Thinking Back

When Brett and I first got married, someone in his family asked us if we had even ever had an argument before we decided to get married. Of course, we didn't (lol) and it is funny to think of the little snicker that followed.
It got me thinking about our first "argument" we ever had and I can't help but laugh every time I remember it now. I think we had been married 3 mths and we were cuddling on the couch watching a movie, and I leaned over and started picking at his face. He kept pulling his head away from my hand, hoping I'm sure, I would get the hint to stop, but I kept on. He finally yelled at me"Stop!!" and I was so shocked! I had never heard him raise his voice before and I didn't know what to do. I just turned around and we sat in complete silence for about half an hour. He was mad at me for ruining a romantic moment with pimple popping and i was mad at him for making such a big deal out of it. It was such a silly thing to get mad about. And we sure had a good laugh later about it. I remember calling my mom laughing and telling her that we had our first couples fight... and she laughed back.
Now, a lot of the times when I start to get mad or frustrated about something I think back to that first fight and say to myself "now, is this another pimple argument?" and if it is, I know I will only be mad at myself later and feel really guilty. I am glad that we talk things out and listen to one another, because I know that if we go to bed angry, we sill still be angry in the morning.
There is so much to fight about in the world and it is so easy to get mad about it. I am certainly no exception to contention. I hope I can become a little better at loving and respecting my fellow man, even the ones who cut me off in traffic or people who don't leave tips haha. Life is full of so many silly arguments

"If Satan can succeed in creating in us the pastime of arguing, quarreling, and contention, it is easier for him to bind us with heavier sins which can destroy our eternal lives. Anger is a poor substitute for self-mastery and compassionate service." Elder Marvin J. Ashton

Wonderful Surprise

I had to work this morning and I was so tired...my energy just feels like it has been draining lately. Anywho, after a long day at the job, I came home to a beautiful surprise! The dishes were done (and put away) the kitchen counter tops wiped clean, floors mopped, living room...hallway...bedroom all vacuumed, Adalies toys uncommonly put in her toy box, towels washed and folded, and our bedroom actually looks like a nice bedroom. All in all i now have a spic and span home! I mean my house hasn't been a total wreck but, it hasn't been the best since i have started packing up boxes...you know going through lots of stuff we don't really need. Well I am so grateful for a husband who noticed...he is such a great guy, and I love that I don't have to mop! =)

Not a day goes by..

I've come to realize i am not very good with gas. It is so expensive now and i am doing nothing to help cost go down in our house. lol i think i go out everyday....sometimes two to three times a day and usually not for any real reasons...just because i get bored being at home and
want to get out. Theres been lots of trips to the mall with the stroller, and Wal-Mart trips everyday just to waste gas and money. I think i am just getting anxious to go somewhere new and to have a change of pace around here! I am getting antsy!
I think Brett thinks I am packing too early. I have taken off all the pictures and paintings off of the walls and put them into boxes. Now, brett thinks our house is boring. I just figure if i do at least one or two boxes a day, i won't be so overwhelmed the week of moving. I also think Brett is a little scared that my pre-mature packing will be things we still need. He was a little surprised when I packed up all the movies and DVD's. He says "What if I want to watch something" well, i seriously doubt we will watch 200 movies before we leave, and besides...We're spoiled now with DVR (like tivo) and we have tons of things recorded on that for him to watch. But, just in case I did leave the tub with all the movies in it in the living room for easy access. =)

Cute baby contest

Adalie was entered into a cute baby contest by her grandparents =) help us win lol!! https://www.greatamericanphotocontest.com/voter1/

Good Days

I am quitting my job in two weeks and it is so hard to even want to go to work anymore. I think that is so funny....i can see the end in sight but i already want it to be here. haha We figure by quitting a few weeks early it will give us a little more time to get organized and ready to go...let's hope!
Yesterday was a great day! The weather was perfect! Jennifer and Daniel came over to play and we all went to the park and had a great time. We also watched the movie "Enchanted" Great movie by the way! Its one of those that even keeps the adults laughing. I kept laughing at all the references to things and Benjamin (my nephew) kept saying to me

Brett is getting so excite for school to be over soon. I think he is really burned out this semester, and needs a little break. He is also getting excited for Pittsburgh. I think the change of scenery is what he is mostly excited for. Too long in Provo isn't good for him lol.
Oh and I am so happy to say we found an apt to come home to! I am way excited!! They're going to be really nice. Their actually building them now, so everything will be brand new and they will be ready by August, which is perfect for us. I am mostly excited about the washer and dryer tha comes with it...it is such a pain to haul your laundry everywhere....lol All in all though i am glad that we don't have to be stressed about that anymore! I think Brett and I have become a little spoiled living in this house.

I feel like I really don't have much to say lately except the same old thing...still packing. So, here are some more pictures. She has so many cute summer outfits i am glad it is getting warm so she can actually start wearing them!

She loves being outside!!

I don't know if you can see but i tried to take a picture of her teeth. they look so funny. she has her two bottom middle teeth and then on top, she just has very sharp eye teeth coming in, just like her mother, She got my vampire teeth and my little webbed toes haha

More Peas Please!

So for those of you who don't really know me, my whole life I have had the toughest time at the thought of even feeding a child and seeing all the mess come out of their mouth. It makes me cringe....needless to say, when Adalie started eating solid foods, for some reason this was a challenge for me. Imagine my reaction when I turned around for two seconds and then came back to this...

Firm Believer

So I just bought my first "Baby Einstein" video 'babies first sounds' and I must say I have become a believer. Adalie hasn't taken her eyes off the TV for a full 30 mins and I think it is the only thing that has kept her attention span longer than 5 mins besides me or her dad. I am with Carolyn on this way....a great way to get clothes folded.

Easter

Have I mentioned how excited I am about Easter for some reason? Really it has never been a huge holiday for me, but now that I have a baby girl, i don't know why but it is so much fun. I have had hers and Brett's baskets ready for over a week now and can't wait for Easter morning. It is so funny how the holidays have become so much sweeter for me now that I have a family of my own.
Also, have a mentioned I love nap time? lol Sometimes when I get so tired and frustrated about all the work I have to do around the house and somehow still entertain a little one, my little girl gives me a break and takes a nice long nap like she is supposed to. haha
It is so fun seeing Brett get excited about the summer. He has gone out a few times to practice his selling here and there for a couple of ours, and I am so proud of him! He has already sold two! woo hoo! gives me hope for the future. He doesn't get to go out much now because when I work he watches Adalie, but i have 2 weeks left and then he gets to go out all he wants and sell sell sell. He is way excited and that makes me excited! Also, we saw our apts we are living in for the summer and they are sweet!! Fully furnished (whihc is nice cause i don't want to haul all of our crud with us) and there is a beautiful pool they have made to look exactly like the beach...sand and all! It is really cool...

Husbands

Reading other peoples blogs inspire me sometimes...like all the sweet and funny things about husbands crack me up because who can't relate? so here it goes...
"Ode to Brett"
I have come to realize my husband puts up so much from me. I sometimes get so cranky and moody for no reason at all and he takes it like a man...a very sweet and patient man. I bug him so much sometimes with my constant ice chomping, (owe that one to Laurie =) hehe), popping his pimples (gross but i am addicted haha), turning the heat to 80 (even though i am the only one cold), never putting his socks together (i just throw them all in the bottom drawer and you find your own matches) and so, so much more..and you know what, he really is great about it. I am really glad I married the man I did, he suites me so well =). It is so sweet when he worries about me, and now to see him as a father, it is the best thing ever. I feel so safe knowing he is here and is going to take care of us for a long time....and that he loves doing it. I love my husband so much, as I am sure all of you do....aren't they great?!?! Thanks for letting me brag!

Monday Monday

time to move the mattress down...

Keep Truckin'

So today I am off work! Not "mommy" work of course but, Olive Garden work which is nice....i haven't had a Saturday off in almost 3 mths....and do you know what that means? i have pretty much no excuse not to finish laundry (haha ya right i am sure i can come up with something) Brett however has decided to go out selling all day today, so its another day of Adalie and I just hanging out. Our day so far...
Adalie has been doing this new thing for about a week now where she will wake up at seven and come sleep in mommy and daddy's bed until about 8. I know i am just enabling her habit by letting her do it, but it is so cute, (except when daddy and mommy almost fall out of the bed because she likes her space!) still, i enjoy the sweet time. Also, she likes to just hold my hand until she has fallen asleep. Brett says she is just like me, I am always having to hold on to him as I fall asleep, usually his shirt sleeve. I don't know why maybe it is just to make sure he stays there...=)
After some bonding time there, we woke up and had some banana rice cereal...(well she did have you ever tried tasting that stuff....i accidentally got some in my mouth one time and almost threw up). Then, after getting all cleaned up and a quick nap in, for the BOTH of us, we headed down to the bank, then wal-mart for a little useless shopping, and home again. I wish it was a nicer day so we could go to the park. This is a new thing for me and it is so nice. We go out for a walk and to the park that is right down the street from the house. Adalie loves it, especially the swings, and hates being cooped up i n the house all day, so now its 1:00 and I have to think of other things to do besides clean the house and try and not spend anymore money.....any suggestions? haha

Thursday, March 13, 2008

Well it has been a busy week and i feel bad i really don't have anything to write.... Yesterday Adalie and I spent the day in Ogden playing with Jennifer and McKenzie and it was alot of fun. I got all my easter shopping done, and I know that its a week away but it is one less thing i have to worry about getting done which is a nice feeling
Also, brett and i did something a little fun...haha we went to a timeshare presentation!! Talk about the pressure! Holy Cow we almost walked away as owners!! But we made it out with our wallets still intacted, and a free 4 day stay and 100$ gas card to Vegas!! woo hoo! that will be fun whenever we can find the time to do it!! Anyway, I am apologizing now to everyone who might get a phone call from us saying we recommended them to come and listen to a timeshare presentation....it turned our 4 day stay in to a six day stay =) You should totally go though...get some cool free stuff, but...be prepared!!

New Day!

So I've decided i need to do a lot of personal improvement. haha I have done a lot of complaining lately, mostly about all the things we have to do before we leave. There is so much and I feel like I am running out of time!! Sometimes it seems like it will be impossible to get this house packed up before we go! Anywho, I know I can do it, and I know it will get done, and I don't know why
I have to complain every second about it. I am beginning to annoy myself!! One good thing though, the weather is warming up a little and that makes me feel a lot better. I am so excited for spring and sunshine! I love being outside and it feels good knowing we will do a lot of hanging out by the pool this summer....I love outside and I love swimming. Something about both just makes me feel so relaxed and stress less for a while!

Stressful Sundays

So, ever since we have switched to 1:00 church it has been horrible. Adalie pretty much stays awake the WHOLE day and is so so so fussy. Plus, it is one of the only days I ever get to spend a lot of time with my husband and even then, he is in the Elder's quorum and is gone half the day. Point is, i need to get myself back into liking sundays. I feel so guilty sometimes about dreading the day which just goes to show, i'm sure, i need to do a lot of changing in some way...just needed to vent...

Wii Happy!!

So we got a wii a few months ago and I LOVE guitar hero! Adalie loves the guitar....It is so funny. Anytime she is cranky all I have to do is strap this guitar around her while she is sitting on the couch and she calms right down. It is so funny....

Fun Times

So yesterday I went and spent the day with my sister Jennifer in Ogden and we took the kids easter pictures. It always amazes me how Adalie will smile anytime except when we try and make her for pictures. Still they turned out rather cute and I wasn't disappointed, and they're free =). I went shopping too, which always seem s to turn out a BAD idea for me especially with a baby girl. Have you SEEN all the cute clothes out there? I can't be held responsible! I got so many summer outfits, but the thing is she already has so many at home already...sheesh i am a little pathetic!
Also, have I told you about my daughters new found glory? She loves paper...any kind, any color, from anywhere! I have to completely clear the area from newspaper, mail, receipts, grocery bags, anything you name it, otherwise i will turn my head for a second and she will be eating it...For example, I just sat her on the floor in the office to drink her bottle and her dad's homework was right beside her. Ofcourse, she drops the bottle and starts eating his homework. I know teachers are used to hearing the excuse "my dog ate my homework" but do you think has anyone ever tried "The baby ate my homework"?

Chocalate Cake for Breakfast!

So for the past two days i feel like i haven't been able to enjoy the glorious tastes of foods because of my stuffy nose, but today i felt A LOT better. I brought home a chocolate cake with vanilla cream cheese icing and beautiful chocolate shavings on top from work the other day (a little 6 by 6 round birthday cake), and tried to have some last night with brett after some dinner.I took one bite and almost keeled over right then and there. But like i said before, today i feel a lot better. After giving the baby her bottle and laying her down for a quick nap, i opened the refrigerator door and that chocolate cake was staring me down to the bone. I couldn't resist, and took a bite. Well of course i couldn't stop at one bite and kept going back for more and more. I ended up taking the cake out of the fridge sitting down on the couch, and while watching Fraiser, started chowing down. After a few moments of actually realizing what i was doing, i looked down and saw that more than half the cake was gone!! Needless to say, i think my appetite is back. Its going to be fun explaining to brett what happened to all the cake....

What Goes Around Comes Around....

So Adalie has finally gotten over being sick, but it seems to still be lurking around here because now I am sick!! Ugh. I hate being sick because it is defiantly when I don't feel like myself and it comes at the worst times...when you have so much to do. Brett has been amazing though, i forget how sweet he gets when he gets worried about me. He made me wake up during the night to take my temperature and give me some medicine. It was funny, because he stood right by me and made sure i took all of my medicine ( i HATE taking medicine) just like my mom used to do when i was younger. I am so glad I am married to such a caring man...he really knows when to step it up without having me ask him =)

Who ever said orange baby food was a good idea?

Spring cleaning!!

So for those of you who don't know, we are moving!!! When summer finally comes around (which is getting here sooner than later yay!!) we are packing up and going to Pittsburgh for Brett's summer sales. I have to admit, i am a little nervous but i am still way excited for an adventure. With Adalie not even a year old, we figure now is a perfect time to do it since we are not so busy and our family isn't too big....we figure we have nothing to lose! The only thing i hate about it is all the packing, storing, and cleaning i have to do. Brett and I have gotten so used to living in this huge house, we have so much stuff to get rid of! I just sold our extra queen bed and mattress which makes me feel a little better, and we have people coming by to get some other stuff. Slowly, but surely i hope to have it all done soon. I've started cleaning out one room at a time and packing things up in boxes that we don't need for a while....hopefully i am geiving myslef a head start!
