Another Obsession
Adalie has discovered Dora the Explorer. It has been the only thing she has consistently asked for when she wakes up in the morning....that and milk. Sometimes we wake up too late to catch the shows on Nick but thanks to the magic of TiVo we get to record them. I am thinking it was a mistake though because she watches it about a fifty times a day. It is a fun show though because I get to see her interact with all the questions she asks like "Who do we call when we don't know which way to go?" or "Say BACKPACK!". She even says the Spanish words that Dora sometimes says to help them get out of whatever trouble they are in. It is funny to watch and I can always count on 30 mins of uninterrupted time to myself which gives me time to load some dishes or do some laundry without Adalie's "help".

Pumpkin Carving
We had GREAT time last night carving pumpkins. Being stuck in the house for the last few days has been pretty boring but I am glad we got to do this fun indoor activity as a family. Adalie was lovin' it and had lots of fun helping daddy clean out the pumpkins and mommy pick out the seeds. Please excuse the messy house and no make up in these next few pictures...it has been a very LONG week, and th last thing I fewlt like doing was house work.
The finished product! Brett did the wolves which turned out really nice and I did the pirate. The other half of his face is missing...it caved in lol
Adalie was done taking pictures by the end of the night...especially when I tried to put a hat on her.

How Its Been
Well, I have Bronchitis and Adalie has Roseola (an acute disease of infants and young children in which a high fever and skin rash occur). The last couple of days at our house have been a pretty pathetic sight, but Brett has been taking good care and helping us out a lot. What are the chances we would both get sick but with two different things on the same weekend? Now we are just hoping Brett nor Adalie don't get Bronchitis. Adalie and I both went to the Dr on Monday to get some medicine to help us get better, faster. The Dr said once Adalie's rash is gone she is no longer contagious and I will have a bad cough for the next 3 WEEKS but gave me some cough medicine to help. This is my first time to have bronchitis. I sound like I have a bad smoker's cough and like I might lose a lung, but don't worry I feel a lot better. My fever is pretty much gone and the chest pain and throat pain seems to be ceasing. Adalie's rash is clearing up and doesn't have a fever anymore which is great. We are still under quarantine for the next few days, but hopefully we will at least be able to go Trick or Treating on Saturday night with Daddy. I am sad though because we are missing out on the ward party and friends house's too. So ya'll have fun out there for us!! Tonight we get to carve pumpkins though!! Exciting!!

Sick Posting
Well, lets lay out the facts. Adalie and I are sick. Adalie has had a fever and has been very cranky since yesterday. She was pulling at her ear all night, so that might be a sign of just an ear infection. I have a soar throat, fever, and runny nose. About two weeks ago, Adalie and I both had our flu shots, so hopefully this isn't that. We didn't get the swine flu vaccine but I don't think it is that either...just a cold but we will see how the weekend goes. We always have the luck of getting sick on Fridays, you know, when the Dr's offices' are closed of course. Speaking of the flu shots, Adalie had gotten a fever from that as well so I feel like we JUST got her back to normal and now we are back to miserable again. Our house is full of tissues, Clorox, anti-bacterial soaps, wipes, and spray. I really hope Brett doesn't get sick because with any signs of sick they aren't allowed to go to work for 5 days and heaven knows we don't want that. Brett has gotten a flu shot too though so hopefully he misses out on being sick all winter. He really never gets sick that often so cross your fingers!

Poor Adalie. I hate sick little ones. She has been laying on the couch since Friday morning and just doesn't want to move. Even when we tried to get her to her room and even coaxed her with sleeping in our room last night, she wouldn't budge from the couch. If you are wondering what she is holding in her hand, it is one of the pictures from our babies ultrasound. Ever since we went to the Dr she has had her own picture of the baby that she carries around EVERYWHERE we go in her purse and will not let it out of her sights. She even asks to sleep with it. I think she is getting hold of the idea of a baby coming and is getting excited, which makes Brett and I so excited too. It is cute to see her now and hear all the cute things she has to say about a baby coming in February.

Sending Off a Missionary
Today my nephew Bryson went into the MTC to serve his LDS mission in Tacoma, WA. I know, weird that I have a 19 yr old nephew...even weirder - I have a 21 yr old niece who is married and will be having her own kids soon I am sure. Bryson is my husband's sister Monica's first son. Monica is 16 yrs older than Brett, who is the youngest of five. Brett was 6 when Bryson was born, so he has always been sort of an older brother to him more than an Uncle. Matter of fact Monica's kids just call us Brett and Lydia...too weird to say Aunt Lydia and Uncle Brett because we are still pretty young to them. I don't mind though. Being called Aunt Lydia makes me feel old anyways haha.
We are going to miss Bryson so much but he is going to do so good!! He will probably come home to a lot of new things. A new cousin and maybe even a nephew of his own if his older sister Chelsea decides to have one within the next two years, which I am sure will happen. He will be in the MTC for about 2 1/2 weeks. Brett will get to see him a little in the MTC and maybe stop and have lunch with him a few of those days....one of those perks being an MTC teacher. It should be fun for them and Monica is thankful for a watchful eye, at least while he is still in the missionary training center. We love you lots Bry and you will be a great missionary!!

Our Nights without Brett
Are pathetic. It is very sad. I don't even know why it is so bad now. Brett has been gone before and although I miss him terribly, my emotions were just off the wall this time!!
Friday night, after I had finally gotten myself to sleep, I was waking up every hour with my heart pounding and due to some kind of noise or movements I thought I heard or saw. So, as soon Adalie woke up we decided to go spend the night with my sister Jennifer and hang out. We had lots of fun just hanging out and doing a little shopping. We even stopped by and had some pizza with my sister in law Monica, whose husband and boys also went hunting this weekend. We came home this afternoon though to do some cleaning and laundry before Brett gets home in the morning. I figured I should do something besides spend his money while he was gone. haha
Adalie has missed her dad and always ask where he is, like she does everyday already. This time though after she asks me this is usually how the conversation goes:
Adalie: "Where is Daddy?"
Me: "Remember? he went hunting this weekend, to shoot some elk."
Adalie "Oh ya hunting. Gotta shoot some milk?"
Me: "Some ELK"
Adalie" Milk?"
Me: "E L K... ELK. There is no M. It is an animal."
Adalie "Oh animal? Some Milk. Ok. Are we gunna go get him?"
Me: "No he took the jeep he will be home on Monday."
Adalie "Oh. He will bring us some milk on Monday."
Me: "Ok I will tell him to bring home some milk for us"
Haha. She is so cute. Even when Brett called she asked him if he is bringing us some milk.

Just me Talking to myself
I am not sure if I have mentioned it yet but with this pregnancy I have taken full advantage of my cravings. No chocolate, chip, fried food, or taco is safe within a two minute walk or 5 minute drive. With Adalie I gained a total of 15 lbs from start to finish. I never got very big and Adalie was a whopping 5 lbs to prove that point. ( I was also very sick...not on purpose) This time it is a different story. I have already started out at the weight I was on LABOR day with Adalie..... Ugh. I have only gained 5 lbs in 4 1/2 mths, so thats good news but if I keep going the way I am going I am sure to doom myself. But, who cares right?? If i want to, who says I can't gain 40 lbs?? haha I already feel like this baby is going to be bigger. He is right on track with everything while Adalie was always a week or two off. Do you get bigger with boys? Bigger with each pregnancy? Brett is so sweet to love me chunky and round. He always makes me feel good no matter how I complain about how fat I look...which is what every ridiculous girl does I know. I am not even big, not nearly as big as I have been in the past and I really need t learn to just buckle down, be healthy, and love my body no matter what =)
Brett being awat this weekend doesn't help though. My house is freshly stocked with donuts, chocolate, chips, soda, and lots of other comfort food to get me through the weekend without him. I really am a pathetic sight when he is gone. Its pretty sad stuff. Plus I am pregnant and anything just about does me in emotionally. We got a fun surprise when he called us just before bedtime. He drove down the mountain until he got a signal to tell me he missed me and loved me and has been thinking about me. Awww you know mushy stuff lol. I love it. So sweet.
Anywho, Adalie is my bed partner for the weekend and will be bunking in Daddy's spot until Monday. I miss you honey, come home soon and come home safe!!

Hunting Season
Besides it being Football season in our house it is also Hunting season. Every year around this time my wonderful husband goes with his Dad and Brothers (no girls allowed) deep in the snowy mountains of Gunnison, Colorado for a few days to shoot some Elk. It is well below zero out there and they are surrounded by snow. This has been a tradition in the Sorensen family for almost 20 yrs - a tradition my husband has only missed twice...when he was on his mission. This year is his last year to be able to go for the next four years though because of medical school, which you just can't miss 3 days of. Brett will be leaving early Friday morning and coming home on Monday. It is a quick trip this year due to a heavy school load, but I can't say that I mind. I just worry the whole time he is gone and think the worst has already happened since they an hour away from a phone Zone out there. He is so excited though about the break and spending some time out in the wilderness. i just don't think I will ever understand the fun of a cold, snowy, hunting season. It has definitely got to be a boy thing. I love that my husband is a wonderful mix of Broadway, Music, Football, and Hunting.
Adalie and I however will just be hanging out all weekend waiting for daddy to come home safely. And maybe a little shopping.

Holy Broncos
I think the Denver Broncos are going to give my husband a heart attack one day. I am sure that his how he will meat his end in his old age. For those of you who don't know and might care, the Denver Broncos are 5-0. This is a shock to almost everyone...except my husband who knew it all along =). Almost every game has been one by the hair on their necks. They have won in overtime or in the last minute of the game pretty much every time. This is getting my husbands hopes WAY up up up because last time this happened they went to the Superbowl. I am so glad the baby is due after Superbowl date, otherwise I am pretty sure I would be doing the whole labor and delivery thing by myself.
You should see my house on Sundays when the Broncos play and Saturday when BYU plays. Not only do I have Brett screaming at the TV but also Adalie who copies everything her daddy does. Both of them are jumping all around and yelling so loud. Next time I am determined to sneak the video camera out to share with the world. I can only imagine how it is going to be with a little boy around the house. Yesterdays game has left Brett with barely a voice...not a good thing for an MTC Hungarian teacher to lose. GO BRONCOS!!

The Waiting Game!
Well now we wait.
We wait for the baby to get here. We are waiting for Thanksgiving to go to Colorado. We wait for Christmas to go to Texas. We wait for Brett's acceptance letter to school.
He is officially done with his applications and they were sent out today!! VERY exciting indeed!! I cannot believe it, but we are so glad the first part of the hard is over. Now we just stress about were we are going. lol. Brett's MCAT score was absolutely wonderful and his GPA is amazing, so I am not too worried about not getting accepted somewhere great. He applied to three schools, Arizona, Iowa, and Ohio. His scores and GPA are well above average for any of them so I guess we just need to see what they are going to offer and where we feel like we need to go. I am SO PROUD of Brett. He is so amazing in every way and SO smart and dedicated. Another 4 yrs isn't that bad....and then another 3. We can do 7 more years of school =) He is going to do so great and be so good at his job, I am not worried one bit. I love you honey, congrats!! I am so proud of you again and again!!

A Little Boy
I think I am slowly getting over the initial shock of knowing I am having a little boy. I am excited! I just still can't believe there is a little boy in there!! Anyone who knows my family knows we just don't have boys, so this is a big deal for the Jenkins' side. Brett says he at least wanted one so I can have all the rest be girls if I would like it that way. lol I think we are going with the name CASON BRETT. I always hate telling my names this early because last time, two people in my ward took my names....my boy and copied my girl name. Good thing my Adalie was born first lol Oh well, I guess if it happens, it happens. Mine will probably be cuter though just so you know! haha.
Everything looks great with the baby. Healthy, on track in his size, no down syndrome or spinabifida or water on the brain or cleff pallet... all good things I now don't have to stress so much about. I just have to do all I can to keep him that way. I am so glad he is going to be a healthy little boy. A little Boy!! I just can't get over it!! I can already see him getting on his big sister's nerves haha.
Other wonderful news, my placenta previa has pretty much corrected itself! Well almost. I am still supposed to take it easy for at least the next four weeks. But the wonderful news is that I get to go home for Christmas and Travel now!! Yay!! And I probably won't have to have a C-Section, if all continues to go well but I guess you never know until the day of.
Thanks for all of your comments though and sharing in the wonderful news with us! I am excited to get some of the "boy" experience that some of ya'll have!!

It's October!!
One of my favorite things about October is the holidays that come way!! We can pretty much start saying happy holidays soon!! We have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!! One holiday a month from here on out for a while and it gets me so excited!! We have already decorated the house for Halloween and have gotten Adalie's costume. She is a Pirate Princess. I just let her go in the costume isle and it was what she grabbed first. I think it is because it has a hat and she LOVES hats.
Wednesday we find out what we are having =), another reason to be excited this month. I am finally starting to feel the baby move around a bit which is always fun. I am usually nervous until I can feel them in there doing something, so it is nice to know it is still in there and healthy so far. I already think this baby is going to be bigger than Adalie was. Granted I am about 15 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant with Adalie so it could just be that I am fat, but honestly Adalie's stats aren't that hard to beat at 5 lbs 6 oz and 17 inch long.
With Adalie I was so sure she was I girl, I just new it. This time, no clue. Sometimes all I think about is boy stuff and then freak myself out because I have no idea what to do with little boys. I come from a family of 5 girls, so girls were usually what I was good at. It would be fun to have a little girl again, until they are teenagers that is. haha A boy would definitely be a new adventure around the house and add in some spice. But then again, boys are what Brett knows coming from a family of 4 boys. Don't let him fool you though, little girls melt his heart and He is Adalie's hero and she is his little Princess for sure. He would be excited for another one of those too.
I am excited to have a little peace of mind though come Wednesday and get ready all over again for another one... I have already started nesting and it is driving Brett crazy. lol

A Kink In the Plan
Well nothing throws off potty training like a sick household. I am sad the adventure has ended until further notice, but sick mommies and babies are something I would rather deal with first than pee on my floor. I have absolutely no energy to deal with it.
Thursday morning Adalie and I woke up to a fun surprise for the both of us. Fevers and vomiting. Hopefully it is not the flu. Our scheduled flu shots are next Wednesday but wouldn't that be something if we already had it? Just our luck I am sure. Anywho, we will not only be stuck in our house for the next few days, but stuck in our house SICK for the next few days. At least the weekend is here and Brett will be home to help take care of us. I absolutely hate being sick, and when there are two of us this way, it is even worse.
