Why?

So today was another BEAUTIFUL day but we were stuck inside..sick again. Seems like it always happens now a days. This time is a stomach thing, throwing up and the whole sha-bang. Anywho, hopefully it goes away soon. I hate having a sick baby, but what makes it worse is me being sick too....it makes me not want to do anything, which is never any fun. Meanwhile, Brett gets to go to a Dave Mathews Band concert tonight!! Ugh how unfair is that?? No, I am glad he got to go....he freaked out when he heard they were coming to Pittsburgh, but I couldn't find us any good tickets in time. Luckily though, one of they guys he works with had an extra ticket and no one to go with so it worked out for him! It was so sweet when he asked my permission to go....hahaha. I am glad he gets to have a little fun so far this summer!! I'll give you a full report on it later but knowing brett all he will say is "it was cool" He is a man of few words....

Almost June

It is almost June and I couldn't be more excited. First, we are 1/4th a way through our summer in PA Woo hoo!! Second, our anniversary is coming up and that means presents =) Third, I will be in Texas in less than two weeks for a little time with the family. I am so excited, but sad at the same time to be leaving my husband here by his lonesome. I just don't know how he will survive without me =) haha

Big Girl Seat

So Adalie has turned around in her car seat. I think she likes that she can actually see us now and she has tonz of fun now that she is able to look out the windows and see lots of new things!

The Family

Yesterday for memorial day we went out with a couple of friends to Applebee's. Brett still didn't get home until about 8, and since Adalie goes to bed at nine, it didn't give us much time to do things. It was a beautiful day though and I loved seeing the sun!

Pittsburgh really is a pretty place and it is starting to be a little nicer to us with its weather. Although I hear it rains most of May, June is coming up and that should mean sunshine all round!

Things I've done lately...

So, yesterday was another great Sunday that I got to spend with my husband. I feel like we haven't really gotten to spend time with each other, just the two of us, for a while. We are either out to eat with the group, having friends over until 12 am, or just to tired to hang out because of the long days, but yesterday was nice to just get to be with my husband and daughter. Even though we didn't really do anything, it is always nice just to get to be together.....

Also, i dyed my hair again! Back to natural...dark brown for those of you who have forgotten.. It is so funny that it looks SO different. I should have been used to it right when I saw it because that is the way it has been all my life...but that blonde really did a number on my brain! It still completely shocked me after I had dryed it and styled it.

Laundry, again! I cold have sworn I was just writing about how I had washed everything in my house and I was feeling good about myself. How did it get ALL dirty again in a week??? Who knows, but I am doing it again. I don't really have anything very interesting to write about, my life has been going pretty normal lately with no big news. For heaven's sake, I am writing again about my laundry!!

New Projects and New Friends

I have to admit I am sort of getting used to Pittsburgh. It has been so much fun getting to know all the wives out here and the past few days have been beautiful weather....what I wanted the summer to look like! Yesterday we all went out to lunch at Johnny Corinos and today we all got together again for one of the girls baby showers. I attempted to make a cake and my friend Carrie and I made the girl, (Shannon I should call her I shouldn't say girl), a diaper cake! It has been so fun getting to really know the girls and hang out. I am so glad that Adalie and I are both making lots of great new friends!!

Another thing that has been happening out here is Adalie. She seems to be growing up before my eyes! She is turning into a toddler and is no longer the tiny baby girl I brought home that day from the hospital. She is getting into everything, crawling everywhere, and looking for adventure! She is becoming mommy and daddy's BIG girl and I am having mixed emotions. On one hand I am so excited that she is growing and learning new things but on the other, I am sad to know that one day she won't even need me anymore and will have her own life. I know it is so far away, but I get a little teary eyed thinking about her all grown up....

Choices

Sometimes we just don't make it....it is a tough decision to make, eating or sleeping

Laundry Days

Usually, I am very good at getting all my laundry done in one day. Wash them. Dry them. Fold them. Hang them. Putting them away. But, I have been spacing out my laundry for about four days now just so it will give me something to do for a few hours each day. Like, I will leave a load in the dryer all night just to fold them the next day and then put them in drawers the day after that. Funny past time I know, but I kind of strangely enjoy it. I am almost done washing every piece of dirty clothing in the house. Towels...sheets...dish rags...my clothes...brett's clothes...Adalie's clothes (including all her bibs, blankets, and socks) and I must say I am oddly filled with a since of great accomplishment! Plus, my house smells laundry fresh!

New Background

So I have figured out how to get cute backgrounds like everyone else! haha Don't freak out though if it changes about a hundred times...I think I have found one I finally like but you never know!!

Trying to help mommy....

So Adalie likes to help me load the dishwasher.....
But with her adventures in standing, somtimes the end result can be devastating. She falls A LOT and I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but she now has a HUGE black and blue bump on her forehead from falling into the metal railings. Luckily, there were other people at the house to witness the monstrosity so at least they can attest to the fact that I don't beat up my child....haha

Sunday Dress

So I always think it is so funny that when we go to church Adalie slowly becomes undressed....
She starts out perfect. Bow, Dress, tights, shoes. First, its the bow. After a while she decides she has had enough and pulls it out leaving her hair a jumbled mess, sticking out every which way. Second, the shoes. She hates wearing the shoes and has found the perfect way to get them off. She rubs her ankle together until both fall off....I am lucky if I spot it and can get in into the diaper bag before someone else brings it to my attention at the end of church. Then comes the tights.....she tugs at those too and rather than get a hole in them, I take them off to preserve them for next week. Finally, her dress. Although she still has it on, it is all dis-shuffled and untied looking a complete mess.
I take pride in my Sunday dress and I LOVE dressing Adalie up for Sunday....it is a shame that she only stays cute for about 30 mins of it.

Formula or Whole Milk?

So I was wondering if you guys could help....Adalie will be a year old in July and I want to start her on whole milk asap. Formula is just so expensive, so I want to start her now at 10 mths, what do you guys think? Should I just wait it out? Her doctor said anywhere from 10 to 14 mths....but I am a little antsy to just get started.

The Wives Club

So it has been fun. There are about 10 wives that followed their husbands out here to do summer sales. They're are all really great and really nice. We have started doing thing, "The Wives Club" where each wife takes a night to cook dinner for all the other wives. See, our husbands are never home in time to have a nice family dinner, except for on Sundays, so we figure it is a good mock family time dinner. It is also a good way to get to know everyone and we can at least share in our misery together haha I keep hearing we are all each other have for the next couple of months so we need to get close!

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Adalie has started to sleep with her but right up in the air....I tried to get a picture of it during nap time today, but she rolled over right as the flash took. I can't understand how that would be comfortable to sleep on your knees, but that is pretty much how we find her every time now....

Adalie also loves the outside. She is so cute in the sun and when we can find a day it's not raining, we go out to get a little tan...

A PA Mother's Day

So, Sunday was a great day. After church, Brett, Adalie and I drove into the city to walk around. Honestly, we didn't get to do very much at all because it was raining but it was still a good day. Brett got me beautiful roses, lots of good chocolate things, and my last energy drink ever (for those of you who don't know, I am addicted to those full throttle energy drinks haha). Anyway, it was just a really nice day to spend with my family and I don't think I had to change a diaper all day!! woo hoo! It is so funny to think I am a mom....Adalie is getting so big and so much fun, I am loving it. I do miss my family though sharing out in her growing up. I feel so blessed that Heavenly Father sent her to me and even though I get frustrated from time to time, I know at least He has enough trust in me to raise this sweet little spirit. Anyway, just wanted to take the time to say how grateful I am for it....
On our PA update....things are going good. It has been raining here a lot lately so I haven't gotten to get out much which can definitely cause a little bit of the blues. Adalie is moving around like crazy! Getting into everything, eating everything, pulling everything down, and I swear she wakes up with a new bruise somewhere on her body because of all the falling she is doing in her adventures to try and walk. I made her wear a hat Sunday because she had a few on her forehead...Anyway, I don't really have anything of interest to write about but just wanted to keep up the updates!!

We're still here...

Well we have made it to our second week!! haha well officially it will be on Saturday night, but this post will do. i won't lie, its pretty miserable out here. My husband hates knocking hours upon end and I hate being alone and feeling like i am raising my daughter all by myself....but the feelings are slowly subsiding. I am finding that, with the Lord's help and if we keep doing the right things, life here is a lot easier. Its beautiful here...its been a little rainy but it is still a really pretty area. So....no more complaining about being here. Whats that saying..."we've made our bed now we have to sleep in it"? haha It won't be that bad don't feel sorry for me. I am learning that I am a little spoiled and I need to get over that quick!! So, here it is-- I hate it here and I hate my husband being gone, but the money is nice and we, as a family, feel like it will be worth the financial freedom that will come to us by the end of the summer...we just have to wait for the end to get here....
ok no more...

Jerry Springer....

Brett bought an antenna hoping to pick up some local channels, but no luck. There was one station that came in with sound but had a really fuzzy colored picture...it was FOX. So here is what my day consisted of as far as the TV goes....

Mike and Julie show-- only saw the end, but the guest was the DOG Whisperer
Judge Joe -- something about suing someone else.
Divorce Court -- some spouse accusing the other spouse of cheating
Some other kind of court show about some other kind of court thing
Jerry Springer -- Ugh something about i cheated on you with your brother and have no shame in it and ill do it again and again and again....
MAURY -- paternity test results...
Two and a Half Men-- something about a new neighbor and what brother gets her

And then after that I don't remember. I couldn't even see anything, but the noise was comforting. .... ha ha

Happy Mother's day to me....

Our days here have been long, but they're turning out to be good. Brett is gone on Saturdays from 9 am to about 10:30 pm, so those suck for him but it makes Sundays a sweet release. Yesterday, they had a BBQ for all the APX guys at the park and it was a beautiful day....we are definitely learning to appreciate family time out here. Brett is getting the hang of selling and has made quite a few so far as to catch up with everyone else, so his confidence is slowly building. It is going to be a long 16 weeks....but a good 16 weeks.
So my mother's day gift has come a few days early and is spread out over a four months span....its CABLE!! Woo Hoo! haha The cable and internet are mostly for my benefit since I never leave the house but Brett threw in the DVR for him so he can record the shows he misses (i.e. House....American Idol....LOST...etc) I know it is pathetic that I am so excited about it and want it so bad, but I find it is hard to pass a 14 hour day without your husband and a clingy baby. They guy gets here tomorrow to install....not soon enough!! haha

Bored

Did I ever mentioned how bored i am out here? I am sure I have....enough to put up two blogs in one day for sure....
Here are some pictures of where we are living. Don't mind the mess and I'll have to get you pictures of the bed and bath later...when they're cleaner haha.
The first picture is what is currently above our little fire place. Our walls are so white and we can't really hang anything up that requires a hole in the wall, so I just bought some removable tic-tac and put some of our scrapbook pictures all over the walls of our house. The third and forth pics are are view from our big dining room window. That's right, we live on a private golf course. Even now someone is teeing off...haha
And here is Adalie in her new summer booster seat. She loves and I love it! It folds up so way easier than the big high chairs and I just strap it to a regular chair.....i really love the person who invented it....It comes with her own little table attachment thingy like most normal ones and when she gets to toddler age-ish it turns to a booster.....good buy! She feels like such a big girl in it!!

Ladybugs, Cops, and Brownies

So i have noticed a lady bug or two in my house every now and then. Most of the time they are dead, but I have found two alive. I guess I should be grateful they're not roaches, but I am dreading the day Adalie finds one and decides to eat it.
Yesterday was another fun day for Brett. He got caught by the same cop yesterday as he did the day before. The cop asked to see Brett's selling license again (which brett had another photocopy of such) and when he gave it to him, the policeman just crumpled it up and said "This is garbage, you need to get your butt back to your car and get out of here, otherwise I am going to arrest you!". We're still a little confused on what he would get arrested for, and the cop didn't even say what, but Brett stopped and called his manager. Well, about half an hour later his manager gives him a call back and tells him that he just got done talking with the police and to go back out knocking. Apparently he also had a little run in with them and asked to speak to his supervisor and after a few choice words and complaints about how some of the cops were treating his sells reps, they got permission to finish out the day with a promised trip to City Hall to figure things out today. We'll see...
Brownies are just because I was a little stressed out about the whole thing and made me a batch. The problem is, we aren't even supposed to have sweets in the house, but I manage to sneak a few in and made a good batch of goowie brownies and had them for dinner....and breakfast.

Brett's experience thus far

Brett's first day was Monday. It was cold....rainy....and long. The area they had him in was basically the getto and I was scared for his life. Especially when he calls at nine and tells me he is waiting, in the dark, on a street corner, by himself for someone else to pick him up. No sell that day, but we we're happy to get him home alive.
Brett's second day was Tuesday. They all got new areas because everyone was in the "bad parts" of the city and no one was passing credit checks. So nicer area on Tuesday, but then the police showed up. The Team leader guy called everyone and told them to stop where they were and no more selling. Supposedly, even though the state of PA told them they didn't have to have selling license here for just the summer, the cops said they did. They said whoever they caught back out here in this part of the city again without a license would get a $300 citation. I guess in this neighborhood folks were just complaining about people being on their street and the cops needed a good reason to tell everyone to go home. No sell that day, but we're happy no one was arrested.
Brett's third was Wednesday. After getting everyone a valid selling license and another new area, they headed out yet again. They got a later start to the day, at about three due to all the junk that needed to be fixed but it was nice to get to see my husband for a few extra hours. I got a text from brett at about our thirty that just said "Got One!". Good news there. Then, I got the call from Brett that he had his own run in with a cop. Apprenetley the police officer had gotten a complaint about someone running around in the neighborhood disguised in an APX outfit asking people if they had alarms and then not giving them pamphlets or offering any information about who it is he actually works for. After asking Brett a few questions that the cop felt Brett couldn't answer quick enough (i.e what is the address of the head office where you work for....what is your new address...etc.) because Brett had to look in his binder for the answer and THAT looked supsicious to him, he revoked Brett's selling license and told him he "just needed to go home and leave these people alone". No reason really to take it, but just did. Brett had to quit selling for the night and just wait for everyone else in the car. Turns out, it wasn't even brett that got the cops called on him it was another APX sells guy who said it was this lawyer lady that said she was going to call the cops on him...Brett just happned to be the first guy the poilce guy saw. So, still got a sell that day and still not going to jail....
What happens today? I'll keep you posted!!
