I have underestimated the power of a great Farmers Market until I came to Iowa. Oh and also corn. You haven't lived until you have done/had both of those things here in Iowa. It might get made fun of a lot for being just corn country (and it mostly is) but it truly has THE best corn anywhere. So good I can get my kids to eat it (MAJOR success in my house). Today we joined our friends at the market in downtown Des Moines and it was awesome!! There were a million people there...and dogs. Lots of people bring their dogs. Adalie even got to have homemade ice cream at 8:45 in the morning and Cason had a breakfast of cold pizza and ginger cookies....awesome right?? I know. We have fresh vegies and fruit out the wazoo here!! Pretty awesome. Makes me feel very healthy
Want to know what i found under my couch? Just a few things among a million... A curtain rod. Foot lotion. socks. a remote. a phone charger. a brush. half a piece of corn on the cob (from today don't worry too much). a million candy wrappers (i found adalie's secret trash stash). An old cheeto. a sippy cup. A wii remote. baby Einstein DVD.
None of it however (except maybe the corn on the cob) tops my deodorant that was found this morning in the vegetable drawer in the refrigerator. BUT I am proud to say that wasn't me....Brett didn't empty the grocery bag before he put it in the fridge.
Also, apparently someone has slipped my children crac because they are bouncing off the walls.....literally.

Today
Today I let my kids get super dirty and it turned out to be quite fun. We went down to a park with some friends here and there is a little river with a "beach". Lots of sand and mud. My kids had a hay day. Even though the weather was muggy it was fun to get out and do something. I of course forgot the camera...
Yesterday, Adalie came in my room while I was getting out of the shower. She saw my breast and said "One day I will have boobies like yours and then I can get married". Lately with the little one coming she says "I really want a baby sister, but I am pretty sure its going to be a brother...or another bother like Cason." She really does consider herself a comedian. Her newest word that she loves to use is frustrated. "This zipper is making me frustrated!" "Cason makes me frustrated" "Mom your cooking makes me frustrated" I asked her what she thought that meant and she said sad or mad....
We have been trying time outs with Cason lately who hits his sister every five minutes. More than half the time he thinks it is funny and proceeds to make out with the wall. He still isn't saying much, but I know he understands. I sure hope he is talking by February. I don't know if I can handle two kids who can't tell me what they want.

rutt
My house gets dirty in 2.5 seconds. My kids fight every other and laundry hardly ever gets folded. I am lucky if I get to take a shower. Today Brett is gone all day and I have done absolutely nothing. I took the kids for a ten minute walk....Adalie got too hot and wanted to come inside. I made brownies (sugar free) but strangely enough haven't eaten the whole pan of them just yet. Kind of a weird thing for me not to do. I know I have probably said this before, but I am NOT good at being pregnant. I feel horrible for saying it out loud because I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I stink at it. I complain all the time. My stress level usually goes through the roof. I get super angry at things that aren't a big deal at all. i am sure my kids hate me. Every pregnancy I say "This is it! No more kids" and I am feeling it this time around too. I am struggling with this weird phobia of having an odd amount of children though. Plus I am sure if I stop now I will regret it when I am older and all of my children have left me. I feel like I have a bad day almost every day!! Ugh what a horrible rutt. I am 12 weeks now and hopefully this will pass and I can start enjoying it. You know, see the miracle of it all, because right now I don't. Haha. I know sounds absolutely horrible....

sorry
So something interesting about me that you may not know...When I am pregnant I almost hate everyone. haha Don't take it personally, I just get super mean for some reason. It usually goes away by the 3rd trimester, but I don't really know where it comes from. I get super annoyed at the littlest things and my poor hubby has to deal with it and keep me from yelling at people all the time. Why is that I wonder?? I also have this "You're stupid and I am smarter than you about everything" that seems to show up 2nd trimester-ish. So very not true I know but still, these raging hormones seem to get the best of me. So, I apologize that it may seem like I don't like you at the moment....give me a few more weeks and I will get over it. You know I love you....

Wal-mart Adventure
We go to wal-mart pretty much everyday around here for something. Yesterday while getting ready for a Relief Society get together I took Brett and the kids to wal-mart with me to get stuff for some banana splits. My kids lose their patients in a store in about 5 minutes, so I am always trying to keep them busy by putting some of the groceries in their hands to distract them. I gave Cason the ready whip can. BIG mistake. He eventually throws it on the ground, the hard cement ground, and it burst open. Whip cream absolutely everywhere. All over the kids. All over the buggy. All over the floor. All over fruits and vegies in the vegetable department. All over me. Brett somehow made it out clean...I ran to the bathroom and lots of wal-mart crew came to help clean it up. Cason and Adalie had a hay day though licking whip cream off themselves.
Just another fun trip to wal-mart.

Makes No Sense- sorry
I am so excited about fall. It is approaching and starting to cool off a bit here. I will be soaking it up for all its worth as soon as I stop wanting to vomit everywhere...Gotta get it all in before the brutal winter comes. How long do flies live??? I swear the same one has been flying around my head for 3 days. Does that mean I stink?? haha Want to know one my my wishes if I had a genie?? I want Brett to know whats its like to be pregnant. The emotional roller coaster. Nausea. The bloating. The gas (although he gets that part second hand anyway...tmi?? sorry) Peeing yourself. Swollen feet....I want him to know ALL of it. I woke up last night in my sleep laughing hysterically. It made Brett really frustrated since he was dog tired and he asked me if I was high. I have no idea what was so funny but even when I woke up I couldn't get myself to stop laughing for like twenty minutes. I think I figured out why Cason is so hyper active and bouncing off the wall all the time. I drank energy drinks while I was pregnant with him. I know I know bad me....let that be a lesson to you all though.

Losing Brain cells
Want to know how bad my memory is getting?? I forgot I was cooking bacon this morning and burned it. I called my dad honey. In a casual conversation with a new neighbor I said we were expecting our first child....while my kids were playing on the playground right in front of me. I walked away from that conversation thinking...Did I just say we are having our FIRST child?!?! I have done the same load of laundry about 3 times now. I always leave them in the washer until they stink and have to do them all over again because i forget to switch them over to the dryer. I forgot about the kids chicken nuggets in the toaster oven until the fire alarm went off. I went to check the mail and made it two steps completely out the door without a shirt on. Why?? I had just given the kids a bath and my original shirt was soaked so I went to get another and got distracted while putting pjs on the kiddos. Walked out in my G top and bra. Awesome. Don't even know if someone saw but I am going to pretend no one did. I called my mother today 3 times with the same question....What did dad say the name of that book was he wanted? Sad part, I wrote it down twice and lost it twice. I have worn 3 different pairs of socks because I couldn't find the other ones I took off for some reason or another. Ok people this was just TODAY!! Please don't expect me to remember anything while I am pregnant...

Been A while
I promise every day hasn't been a bad day LoL that post has just been up for a bit. not much has been happening though, still been pretty boring. I have been extra puke-y lately, mostly in the evening and late nights. I never get morning sickness. That is actually the best part of the day for me. Around 8 pm though my appetite is a no show and I always have the urge to vomit. I cursed myself saying this has been the best pregnancy so far and I haven't been sick. Hopefully though with eh 12 weeks mark coming up soon it all goes away and I can be semi normal again haha. I am way excited that it seems to be cooling off around here....I am so excited for fall. It is gorgeous here in the fall.
Brett started his 2nd yr here at DMU. Kind of crazy. I feel like the first year flew by!! I don't know where the last year went. Kind of fun not to be the newbies anymore and have a little experience under our belts. Here's to another year at med school!! hip, hip.....

Today
Sometimes there are days when I am looking very forward to bedtime. Today is one of those days. Kids have been fighting all day. The dirty clothes basket is overflowing. It is gross outside. Muggy and wet. Always seems to dampen my mood. And my dampened mood pregnant is lethal. I haven't had sugar for 5 days which isn't helping at all...awesome right? I have still gained 2 lbs. Brett weighs 1 lbs more than I. Not saying that my husband is fat or anything, just has a little extra fluff around the edges. Cute fluff that I like. I however do not like my own fluff. Its is very un-cute. I got majorly depressed today when we both weighed ourselves. Brett has lost 10 lbs and I have gained 2. Granted I haven't done much but grow a baby while sitting on the couch lately (I am extremely lazy these days) but still I thought changes the food would at least do something. I know I know, exercise. Any suggestions on how to get motivated on that one?? Especially when I feel the need to vomit often?? I just need to buck up and quit being a baby about it all I suppose. Ugh, its been a blah kind of day....

Things I've noticed
I don't know if it is this way with you too, but it takes my family about 10, maybe 15 minutes tops to finish a meal that took at least an hour to cook. Take tonight for instance....I started the spaghetti sauce at 3:3o. Had to cook the meat and then let it simmer for at least an hour. Got the noodles in at 4:45. Started the Parmesan cheese toast at 5:05. Set the table and had the drinks out by 5:10. Food and family at the table by 5:15. Prayer (2 seconds by Adalie) and then feast!! Done eating by 5:28...seriously. I have told my husband on many occasions that he eats too fast. His excuse? Growing up in a house full of boys you had to be if you wanted to eat anything, much less get seconds of whatever was left. I do however, admire my father in law for his ability to enjoy a good meal. He is always the last one to get his food and always the last one to leave the table. When we go out to eat, everyone is usually half way out the door while he is still finishing up his meal. Seriously what's the hurry?? Food should be enjoyed and savored. You eat it too fast, you miss the taste that is intended.
I love it when my sheets match my pillow cases. Kind of sounds funny, but usually the 4 or five pillows that are on our bed (Brett and I both sleep with 2 pillows, me sometimes 3) have different pillow cases. Today I got to buy sheets. I absolutely LOVE new sheets. Sateen sheets....its heaven for your skin, really. I bought 4 pillow cases. My pillows are just as soft and pretty as my sheets. My bed looks like it came out of a home and gardens magazine at the moment and I adore it.
Yesterday was of the two days a year where we feel rich for a few moments. It was the day our school loans came in. Too bad 28,000$ of that had to go to tuition, but even the $10,000 that was left in our account makes us feel pretty well off =) Interesting to think that one day that will be our income for a month....unfathomable!!! Although that will also be used to pay the government back the $200,000 plus interest we will owe them after 6 yrs when all is said and done. Oh and just so you know, there is no longer $10,000 in our bank so don't rob us. Most of that has already been spent. haha

#3
Looks like we are 9 weeks prego. I had an ultrasound today. One baby in there and it is due the 6 of March. My babies tend to make it a week early so I am hoping it will not be born on the Leap year. It was kind of funny getting an ultrasound today...it is so tiny. Its so weird there is something in there...very alien to me. Amazing what bodies are capable of really. With Brett in medical school, i have been exposed to a lot of interesting things about the body. All the diseases. All the cures. What people are trying to fix. It is amazing how the body knows what to do with itself. The way medicines react. It really is miraculous. It baffles me how people can think things are circumstantial or coincidence. There are just to many things that have to play the parts together in a specific sort of way that someone had to come up with this stuff. I am so glad that I know my Heavenly Father created us in His image and gave us these wonderful bodies.
