Santa Came!
Well it looks like we were good enough for Santa to make an appearance this year and bring us a few presents. Brett got a new work shirt, a Cutler Broncos jersey, leather jacket, Brad Paisley cd, Get Smart DVD, and Mario cart for his Wii. Lydia got a new leather jacket, perfume, photo printer with a camera, 2 great sweaters, body lotions and lip gloss, candles, new tennis shoes, and lots of chocolate! Adalie racked up with baby dolls, lots of baby stuff, bath toys, a new Sunday dress from Grandma and Grandpa, a little four wheeler from Grand-mama and Grandpa, and other little fun things. They were all wonderful gifts (we have truely been blessed) and hopefully we are good enough next year for Santa to make another visit to our house again!I will continue with the festivities in more detail tomorrow. It has been a long couple of good days but I am tired and ready for a little rest.

Merry Christmas!!!
I am beginning to miss the holidays with mom and dad though. It is kickin' in... Brett and I are away from both our parents this year and we miss them and the rest of our brothers and sisters very much!! We are so thankful though for all we do have and the help and love that our family gives us. Also, we are grateful for each other and our own little wonderful family. Mostly, we are thankful for the Savior and the gospel and all that it does for us. What a wonderful time to know and be apart of the truth here on the earth today and to share the blessing of eternity as a family! Happy Holidays everyone!!

Five Golden Rings!!
What a wonderful time of year and Oh my goodness I am so excited for Christmas. Everyone just seems to be a touch nicer at Christmas. I think people find religion most during this time in my opinion. But, what a great time to find it! So many things to be grateful for and so many miracles!! I miss my mom and dad though...Okay, that's enough sappy for now I am going to cry if I really get into this. The water works have been coming like crazy lately!
Today was my last day of work for almost two weeks and it feels great to do nothing. Brett will be working non stop though, which stinks But at least we will get all day Wednesday and Thursday together. I am so excited to give him and Adalie their gifts... I am been trying to tell brett what he is getting for the last month and he won't let me even hint as to what I got him. Meanwhile, I know all of my presents but I am so excited to GET them lol. I am such a little kid when it comes to Christmas.

MOO!!
She walks around going "Moooo"
Adalie waiting for Christmas Sugar cookies...Yummmm

Another thing...my husband has gone missing! I always hate the last few weeks of school because Brett goes MIA for a while with all he has to do. I should get used to it, considering it is only going to get worse from here as he starts dental school. Also, with the Holidays coming, some of his companion teachers at the MTC are leaving so he is picking up their shifts, so that counts a lot for his absence as well. It is good for the money and Brett really can't saty still for very long so it is good he is being kept busy, but it makes me miss just hanging out with him. Soon though....
Meanwhile, with one car I am home all day and with the snow coming, there is not much to do. I last about 15 minutes outside because I get to cold and paranoid that Adalie will get sick. I online shop. Catch up on scrapbooking. Watch movies. Clean. Snack. And blog. I have gotten very very lazy, as I always seem to get in winter anyways, but now with a baby, I think I have gotten worse. What do you guys do all day?? I am very open for suggestions....LoL

SNOW
Christmas?!?!? I can't believe it! I am so glad I am done with shopping though, now it is just the excitement of opening up the presents! I hate the waiting... LoL I am not a fun one to surprise lets just say that much.
Brett and I are actually staying in Utah this year. The thought of not seeing our parents makes us so sad, but at least we will get to visit them in months soon after. It should actually be kind of fun since we really have never had a little Christmas with just us home for the holidays.
Meanwhile, I have heard that we need to start getting ready for the snow to arrive because it is coming soon and in LOADS!! Ahh! I have dreaded this moment mostly because I am not looking forward to having to bundle up a baby and go out in it with her. Oh, and the crazy drivers. Admittedly, I am probably one of those drivers since I am from Texas, but I try to stay off the snowy roads as much as possible and let Brett do all the driving during the winter.

The Past few Days
Wednesday, a quick trip to wal-mart turned into an hour and a half trip looking for my wallet. Adalie and I ran into Wal-mart really fast to pick something up before I was supposed to meet my sister's in SLC so I just grabbed my wallet and the baby and ran in. My first mistake was letting Adalie hold my wallet while she was sitting in the buggy. 2 seconds later, I realize my wallet is gone. So, I retraced all of my steps and found nothing. It had even been more than a minute and it was already gone. I hung around Wal mart for a bit looking again and again occasionally checking in with costumer service, but still nothing. It was gone. And the other sad thing about it is I had just gotten everything renewed and updated because my wallet had been stolen a month before. Start Laundry.
Thursday Adalie has a Dr appointment and of course, we are late. She gets shots and hates me for the rest of the day. Laundry.
Friday, Adalie gets into my make-up and spills it all over the floor. Mind you, I just bought everything and it is pretty expensive stuff....and there is a stain on my carpet. A carpet in an apt that we are renting. More Laundry.
Saturday, I go to work and get stuck staying 2 hours after I was off because, 1. I had to take 6 tables right at my off time due to the lack of servers coming in that morning calling in "sick" and 2. I lost my keys and looked frantically for about half an hour and then realized I wore a jacket that day and they were in the pocket. Still doing laundry.
Sunday, our alarm didn't go off and we missed 8:30 church. Adalie is a grump and has a diaper rash that I am sure is the cause, but nun the less she is still a grump. Ugh, and I have to work tonight. And, how do three people have so many dirty clothes and towels?

Festival of Trees
This is a Gingerbread castle!!!
Amazing!! There was so many trees and all selling for like at least $1500 a pop!! Wow! I was SO impressed with this organization I made Brett promise we would either by one or donate one when he gets a practice up and running. Of course one of Brett's favorites was the Denver Bronco's tree.
It was just one of the little four footers but it was still pretty neat. I mean these trees were huge and some with SO much thought put into them. Each of them were in "memorial of" and even had the picture of whom they were honoring off to the side. It was really so sweet to think about all that these people put into their projects... There was this tree made entirely of glass! Amazing!!
Also, Adalie, it turns out, is not a huge fan of the man in Red....

First Black eye and other Pics
So Adalie has gotten her first black eye. How did it happen you ask? Well, Adalie pulled down a stocking that was hanging from a stocking holder (really heavy marble one) and the whole thing came crashing down right on her eye. It looks better today, which is when I took the picture, but the stratch under her eye looks worsePoor thing. She still won't let me touch it or look at it very long. She pushes my face away when I get to close.
This other picture is for mostly my enjoyment. This is the day she was born. She looks like a little baby ape lol. Do you know the first thing I said when I saw her?? "She looks like a sharpie" Thats right, the first words I said about my own daughter was that she looked like a dog!! I am so embarrassed still to this day!!

Santa's Reply!

Merrrryyyy Christmas Adalie!!
Thank you for sending me your email all the way from Provo! The Net sure is wonderful because now I can get emails from Provo and around the world in the blink of an eye. Even Rudolph gets emails... from pets! Why, here's Rudolph right now! HO!! Ho!! ho!! He just asked me to say 'Hi!' to you!
Jumping Jingle Bells, Adalie! I still remember bringing you your very first Christmas present and here you are 1.5 years old already! I hope you are getting excited about Christmas because I am really looking forward to visiting your home! Rudolph said he's really excited about visiting your home too! I also hear you've been a REALLY REALLY good girl. (Of course, you won't mind if I do a little checking, will you? HO!! Ho!! ho!!).
Cookies? COOKIES?!? Did you say cookies?! Yum!! You know, I get asked a lot what kind of cookies I like best. Of course, I love *all* kinds of cookies, but what I like the most is when you leave me the kind of treats that *you* like best. (That way it's like we're sharing them!).
Let's see what you put in your letter for Christmas wishes: 1. baby doll; 2. baby doll stroller and; 3. baby doll diaper bag.
HO!! Ho!! ho!! Mrs. Claus will be tickled to hear you like pretty doll stuff as much as she does! She just loves helping the elves make all the wonderful doll things. Even with Mrs. Claus helping though we never seem to make enough of them for everyone so I hope you won't be too upset with me if I can't bring you everything you asked for.
Oh! Oh! I guess I better go because one of the elves just unplugged the Northern Lights again! Take care Adalie and don't forget to come back and visit me here at EmailSanta.com on Christmas Eve!! And remember... only 30 more sleeps until Christmas!!
Lots of Christmas Love,
P.S. Why thank you for the wonderful hugs & kisses Adalie! Here are some extra special hugs and kisses just for you from everyone at the North Pole!

Fun Christmas Ideas!
Here is Adalie's Christmas letter and we can't wait for Santa to write us back soon!
Provo, Utah, | ![]() |
Dear Santa Claus,
My name is Adalie. I am a girl and I am already 1.5 years old!! I live in the great city of Provo. Of course, that's in Utah, United States, but I'll bet you knew that!! This year I've been so good that I should be the angel on top of the tree!
Santa Claus, some things I might like for Christmas this year are:
- Baby Doll;
- Baby doll stroller; and,
- Baby doll diaper bag.
Santa Claus, I almost forgot to say... This is my first Christmas I will remember! Last year I was only a baby but now I am getting to be such a big girl and would love some Big Girl things! I am excited for you to come to our house this year and I will be sure to leave you some milk and cookies for a midnight snack!
Love, Adalie

No keys!
When Brett gets home from work, he always changes out of his suit pants and into his jeans. This time, he forgot to switch his wallet and keys from one to the other. I locked the door from the inside when we went out to go for a quick trip to the store. Brett realizes he doesn't have his keys and asks me if I had mine...of coarse I do not. Anywho, we called the manager of the apartments. No answer. We called the maintenance guy. No answer. We called a lock smith. $140. No way, we will find another way. The manager of the apts finally calls us back and tells us our neighbor has a key to all the apartments. See, his dad is the owner of some of them so I guess that is a perk he gets...make you feel safe don't it? ugh. WELL, being the good neighbor he was, he was going to charge us $25 to come downstairs and unlock our door. Seriously??? That is the neighborly thing to do? Pay you pocket money?? Why is everyone out for a buck around hrere?? Sorry, I am still a little bitter about that. Just as we were reluctantly about to agree to do this, the manager calls us back and gives us OUR landlords number and he comes down and unlocks our door. For free. He was down the street and was kind enough to help us out. The whole ordeal took about an hour and a half. Waiting with a sick baby out in the cold. No bottles. No diapers. No money. No car keys so we couldn't go anywhere. And a cell phone on its last battery life. We have decided to make a copy of our key and give it to a friend somewhere in town, maybe even our home teacher, so just in case it happens again we will be a little more prepared.
Ugh what a night. Good news though. My wonderful husband finished all the laundry. Even folded and hung them up!! Thanks honey! Love you lots!

More Discoveries For Adalie
Pens. Great. I already caught her on the walls once and she always has pen marks all over her body when it comes to bath time.
She IS growing. She is definitely getting taller and a little heavier. I am excited she is finally getting to look her age and catching up to everyone else, but we are worried already about her little Buddha belly haha. Also, she can reach the top of our counters if she stands on her tippy toes and pulls everything off.
The Trash Can. She throws everything away now, we have to look twice before throwing the trash out these days.
Dancing. She loves music and loves to dance. She is constantly movin' and groovin'

I am Awake?!?!
It is one thirty in the am and I am WIDE awake! I have tried to close my eyes at least a dozen times now and nothing happens. I got home from work tonight around 12 and for some reason my body still won't shut off. Maybe it is because I am a little stressed out about work.
I am a Certified trainer at Olive Garden and I also work in the bar. A CT is basically a babysitter once you get right down to it. I make sure the shift runs smoothly, make sure the host are doing their jobs, and pick up the slack where they are lacking. Tonight, I was accused of being mean and rude by a fellow hostess co-worker, whom I have had trouble with in the past with having to correct her work. She is fairly new. I think she gets mad at me when she gets into trouble for doing something she is not supposed to do, which I have no idea why... Anyway, I have worked there for three years now and have never had a problem with anyone thus far until now. We had sort of a peer mediation that I asked the managers to sit in with us, and she tried to chew me out in front of them. I have never wanted to say something so mean to someone all my life, but I kept my mouth shut. I even asked her where she got the idea that I was being mean to her and asked about specific occasions where I had done so...she just said I was and I am all the time. Really? It was nice to have the management team on my side though who know me and don't believe a word of what she is saying.....still though. According to her, everyone hates me and thinks I am bossy, rude and mean and wonder where I get off the nerve to be the way I am? Who is she talking to? lol
Needles to say this has been a shot to my pride and I was a little offended. I guess everyone can't be liked all the time right? Or so I am told...ugh sorry to complain so much today, but I am so sick of being awake!! I need to find happier things to blog about!!

Did I ever Tell you?
Once, I locked Adalie in the car...with the keys still in it.
I was at the grocery store and after we were finished shopping, I went to put Adalie in her seat. I had the keys in my mouth while I was buckling her in and she grabbed them from me. She loves the keys because she presses the LOCK button and then the car beeps. Well, forgetting she had grabbed them from my mouth, I shut the door, and right before I could open it and grab them from her, I heard the *beep*. Dang it. There are no extra keys to the car and I do not have another beeper thingy to open it. Adalie still had the keys in her hand and kept pressing the lock button, so the car kept beeping and there I was trying to coax her into pressing the other buttons on the ring, hopefully missing the panic button. FINALLY, after looking like and idiot for about 20 minutes, she presses the right button and I am in! You should've seen the looks I got in that parking lot....

Upstairs
What are they doing up there? Do they move their furniture all the time? Jump roping in the house? Building something? Break glass? Are they so deaf that they need to turn the TV up SO loud that everyone knows their a CMT fan? Do they need the radio on at 3 am because that's when all the good songs come on? Sheesh you think they would remember that someone lives under them. I am often tempted to put Adalie right up next to the air vents and let her cry into them so they know what annoying is. Maybe I will hammer something to the ceiling at 2 in the morning so they can't sleep either.
Wow, I sound mean...

Notice
Dear Brett,
Remember when we bought that 64 oz jar of miracle whip at the store not too long ago and said "We will never run out of miracle whip again!" ? Well, we are almost out.
Love you
Lydia
New Things
Oh, and I have found a solution to Adlaie's sippy cup problem, at least for now. I might be a bad mom, but every now and then I add a tea spoon of hot coco mix to her milk and give it to her in her sippy. She laps it up quick and now has taken to the idea of the sippy cup because she think it will be in there every time. It's not of course, but she is finally getting used to her sippy cup.
Also, she is rediscovering her Baby Einstine videos. She has been a little disinterested for a while, but is now actually staying tuned for almost the whole 3o minutes and calming down a bit. lol.
Oh I love these two....just had to throw this one in here, even though Brett hates this picture of him, but it always makes me smile.

One More Halloween Post
Adalie's first time trick or treating was a success! Our little witch had lots of fun this year...We met up with Mom, Dad, Jennifer and Daniel and all the grand kids at Jennifer's house and went around her block. Its started to rain a little, but Utah rain last for like 2 minutes so it wasn't that bad. Dad sure had fun hauling around all those grand babies and mom stayed home to get the trick or treaters' that visited Jen's house.
It was so fun to see Adalie get excited about every house she would go to. She got more into it as the night went on.
After trick or treating, we went home and celebrated mom's birthday before they headed out of town. Her birthday is next week, but since we don't get to be in texas for it, we sort of had a mock birthday for her here. Sad news, mom and dad left early this morning. I have gotten used to having mom here for a little over a month now and already miss her and dad. We'll see you again in April!!

Boo at the Zoo
Wow! What a day that was! I don't think I have ever seen so many people with their kids in one place...
This past Saturday we all got to go to the utah hoggle zoo! I think zoos have become somewhat of a hobby for Adalie now...She already has three under her belt and isn't even two. I am pretty sure it took me at least ten years to get that and even then I think it was the same zoo every time. lol.
It was a themed day there and all the kids dressed in their costumes and they had little booths for them to go trick or treating at. All the lines were really really long so we didn't stay in too many to get the candy, but we had fun with all the animals!!
This picture is all the kids in their costumes... Emma is Belle, Benjamin is a triceratops eggs, Adalie the witch, and Mackenzie is a care bear....

Chrsistmas Shopping Already?!?!
On another note though, my dad is here! Yay!! He has come to pick up my mom and spend a few days with us and I am SO excited to have them both here now. Adalie has been a lucky girl to get to see her Texas grandparents a lot this year, and I always love seeing my parents any chance I get...we miss them a lot. We are excited to do some fun stuff with them while they're here!!

Struggles...
Adalie is absolutely attached to her bottle and hates it when we put her milk in a sippy cup. She doesn't like to eat much, weird considering who her parents are. I worry though because she is so little and such a picky picky eater!! Ugh. She has been waking up the past few nights wide awake around 3 a.m. and won't go back to sleep for like an hour. Nap time has become a knock down drag out fight that takes at least thrirty minutes to even get her eyes to close. So has bed time.
Brett is so stressed about school, poor guy. His football teams are struggling -- BYU had a horrid game and his broncos are not doing to good either. He didn't get to go hunting this year. Poor guy probably won't get to go skiing this year either...
Me. I am getting fat again and that is definately depressing enough in iteself. Sums it all up for me. lol
