Easter Again

I know I know!!! Three post about Easter!?!? You'd think that's all we do around here....But I promise this will be the last!Saturday we went to our Branch Easter eggs hunt and it was cold!! Brett stayed home with a sleeping Cason so Adalie and I drove a few blocks away to go and hunt for some eggs!! Despite the wind, mud, and the tornado siren going off (just a test I think but still a little split second scare) it was a lot of fun! I love just getting to hang out with the people in the Branch. It's fun to see people relax and have a little fun.
Adalie and one of her friends Ethan. She calls him her boyfriend. Although I am pretty sure she just means her friend that's a boy, but still cute.

Sunday the kids awoke to some Easter treats from the bunny. It was cold at 7 am here, so the Easter bunny just hid the eggs in our little 10x9 living room. Took about 2 mins total to find the 15 eggs he decided to hide. But the kids still had a great time with the surprise of it all! It was so fun to get to teach Adalie about Easter and the meaning of it all. I am sometimes overwhelmed with the task of trying to teach my kids the sometimes complicated answers to questions. But she got it. Pure and simple. Jesus has risen and He Lives!! What a great truth we know!!

Brett took the kids out this morning to teach Adalie how to golf with her new little golf set. So cute. These are the fun memories I always want to remember. Just playing with our sweet kids. So, put down the computer. Leave the dirty dishes and the laundry. Vacuum another day....and go play with your kids =)

Sorensen Easter 2011

Yesterday we met Brett up at his school to take the kids to the DMU Easter party. It was a great way to start off our Easter fun for the year. There were a few little fun stations for Adalie to participate in....some egg dying and cotton ball bunny-making. Of course there was an Easter Egg Hunt too!! Adalie seemed to remember the drill from last year and Cason looked a little confused with it all. After he would put an egg in his basket, he would just take it out and put it back on the floor. He did however learn there was candy inside and started hoarding them all when we got home. Anywho, more Easter bloggin to come!!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!!

Me, Myself, and I

Life now seems like it is moving along just fine. Brett's school semester is ending soon and I am amazed that this year seemed to fly by. Summer is fast approaching and we are getting way excited. I am feeling overwhelmed lately with all of the self improvement i need to do. seems like i need tons of it. physically, mentally, and spiritually. there are so many things i want to be, but mostly i just want to be better. a better wife. a better mother. a better friend. seems like every now and then i get a glimpse of the person i should be rather than what i actually am. so, here's to being a little better...Lets see if i can live up to the expectations and improve myself a little. everyone could use a little tune up now and then, and i am off key.

Thursdays Accomplishments

Its amazing how accomplished I feel just doing a few loads of laundry. I don't know where I managed to pull out the motivation to do so, but I already feel that the day was a success because I folded some clothes. Funny right? It is rainy and will be for the next week straight. Which means, I will have no reason to get out of my pj's and fix my hair haha. I should go and buy the kids some rain boots so they can play in the rain.....if it wasn't too cold and I wasn't scared that a tornado would whisk them away. It's that time of year again....a whole summer of freaking out about tornadoes. Brett isn't looking forward to the nights I will drag our children into our bedroom and huddle with them on the floor away from the windows. Ya, I do that. I have never been scared of thunderstorms....i LOVE thunderstorms, even lightening storms. But, a strange thing happened when I had kids, I got scared of everything!! Stupid stuff even, like falling off buildings and bridges collapsing. Plane rides with my family have become horrible because there is basically no chance of survival in those things if they go down.....Please tell me I am not the only one to do so. It's just the thought of keeping my children alive and safe from everything when I don't even know how to 100% keep myself alive and safe from everything freaks the heck out of me. Anywho, ending on a happier note--Cason has been asleep for 2 1/2 hours and it has been pretty awesome. At least the rain makes him sleep better, that's something nice about it. A lot of people say they like the smell of rain. I however do not. I think it smells like dead worms.

Hello Sun!

I am so excited for the sun!! Growing up in Texas and never really getting snow or negative degree weather, winter here in Des Monies definitely gave me the blues. The sun is barely out and I already feel like I am becoming a new person!! I am glad both the kids are a little older so they can enjoy the outside too. It helps that both can run around and get out some of that energy! Spring is turning out beautiful here in IA. When we got here at the beginning of August last year it was just HOT. But when fall came around it was absolutely gorgeous with wonderful temps. I hear Spring here is much like the fall, do that makes me WAY excited. Good news! Brett got a job on campus! Awesome! He is working at the gym, nothing big 5 to 10 hrs a week and he still will get to study while he works. Seems perfect for now. $200 extra dollars a month sounds like a fortune to us. LoL. Not much else has been going on other than some spring cleaning and fun in the sun! Just perfect really.....

Check this out. The other day I asked Adalie to take her pants off and put them in the dirty clothes. When I walked down this morning to do some laundry, i found her pants and slippers just like this....seriously had to take a second glance because it looks like a kid got squished underneath the washer. I cracked up for a good twenty mins over this little phenomenon.

Big Bunny

We saw the Easter Bunny....

The Easter Bunny is by far the freakiest mascot/character thingy ever. I used to have dreams, well into my pre-teen years of a possessed Easter bunny with bleeding red eyes and huge fangs. He sneaks into your house to give you poisoned chocolate and put bombs that look like Easter eggs into your Easter basket. It is still hard for me to want to love the Easter Bunny. But out of the goodness of my heart, I am trying not to ruin it for my children. I guess if you really think about it, a big fat guy who doesn't shave, who comes into your house in the dead of winter and has an unnatural love for small children isn't any better..... Oh Childhood, if only the innocence would last a little longer. If only imagination would transfer into reality....sometimes, not always.

Zoo Trip

Tuesday we went on a little outing to the zoo here in Des Moines. We decided to take advantage of our year membership there and it was a beautiful day!! It's kind of a tiny zoo, but was even more so do to the fact it was under construction.
Careful, these caged animals can be dangerous....hard hats definitely required and a safe distance must be kept.

Seriously we saw about 6 different kind of animal. 2 bald eagles, a few penguins, a llama, some goats, a tiger, two river otters, and a cage of monkeys....

oh and a deere and another fierce looking cat. haha=)

Took about 20 mins to get through the whole park. Daddy topped it off with buying everyone ice cream on the way home! A prefect little two hour excursion on a normally boring ole Tuesday.

cute little baby goats we got to see. 5 days old and pooped everywhere. Eww

Cason was having quite the conversation with this goat. Cason would scream babble, the goat would say naaaaa and Cason would laugh hysterically. Must have been a pretty funny joke.

The river otters put on quite a show for the kiddos......seemed a little starved for attention. Poor things. Probably some of the only kids they have seen in the last few months of winter weather.

Disney Part 2

I am sure you have been looking forward to part two....haha heaven knows it been up there forever. Finding time to blog between a house FULL of dirty laundry and sick people has been tough. Anywho, The second day of our DisneyLand vacation was actually spent at California Adventures. More of the adult part of the vacation but there was still a few rides that Adalie got to ride. We rode tower of Tower like 3 or 4 times that day.....it was so cool!! My stomach ended up in my throat evey time. It was so fun to see my in laws even ride the ride!! I hope when i am in my 60s I am still riding some roller coasters!! We even got to ride screaming California......AWESOME roller coaster!! and we waited literally 5 mins in the line....got to ride it twice! =) Partly, because it had started to rain that day around 3, and people we starting to leave the park. so our day was cut a little short. It was great the first time around, but the second time we road it you really couldn't keep your eyes open. The rain felt like daggers in your face. It was still a great day. It was nice to go back to the Hotel and relax. We ordered in some pizza and watched the BYU game....of which we won't talk about. Bummer. We also caught up on some much needed sleep so we would be ready for a full last day that Friday!! Here are some pictures from our Second day at Cali Adventures!! Enjoy some more!!

My handsome men
A Bugs Life 3D mini movie experience was WAY cool!! The bugs spit at you and even your seats felt like there were bugs underneath them...ewwwww
One of our Tower of Terror Pictures with Brett, me, sister in law monica and her Macady
