thinking out loud

Just thoughts...

Sometimes I wish I could get other people to use the restroom for me. Huh, sounds kind of funny...let me explain. Do you ever ask someone to get you a drink? Or get you some socks? You know, something like that..."Hey honey, while you're upstairs, could you go to the restroom for me? Thanks. Love you!!" You know, for those inconvenient times when the urge strikes you...like while cooking dinner. Or on the phone. Or changing a baby.....when you don't really want to stop what you're doing to run upstairs to go but you might just pee your pants if you don't. Also brings up another thought, I hate that both of our bathrooms are up the friggin stairs.

I love watching people feed their babies...as in solid foods not boobie milk. Haha that would be extremely weird if I didn't explain. It's funny to watch the mommy/daddy spoon the food and try to get it in the babies mouth. The parents mouth is always wide open and closes in sink with the babies every time. But the mommy or daddy looks waaaayyyyy funnier than baby with the yucky smirk on their face while mock chewing their babies food. Brett is my absolute favorite person to watch feed our babies. The faces he makes would make a blind man laugh hysterically....almost wish I could catch it on camera if I could hide well enough to tape it. Note to self: try to get brett on video feeding our children. K, got it.Speaking of eating. Cason has it somewhat of an independent stage in his life when it comes to dinner time. He won't let us help him eat. He needs his own spoon. His own bowl. And therefore, his own mess. Not so fun that it takes him almost half an hour to eat his food by himself. Also not so fun of a major mess.

And how cute is my husband with his little girl at the Princess table. Feel free to aawwweeeee

For Your enjoyment...

A series of events to provoke a little laughter...

First go around is tons of fun!!

Second time around...not so much

Happy Birthday Cason

It is now official!! We can say that Cason is one!! I always hate talking in months...
Little Man had a little birthday party with a few friends over last Saturday. Everyone came over for some cake and ice cream. Cason definitely suffers from second child syndrome around here. For Adalie's first birthday I had everything planned out to a T like a month before and she had presents out the wazoo. But, you live and you learn and realize that although it is a very important and wonderful day for you as a mommy and daddy, for the kid - he doesn't know a lick of difference and a birthday party for a 1 yr old is kind of awkward for guest. And also shopping for a 1 yr old is difficult.....he is happy with a tissue box full of tissues he can eat and destroy. I do however feel extremely guilty that I forgot to pull out the video camera for his happy birthday song....I am a horrible mother I tried to capture the after effects that barely lasted one minute. Don't under estimate our love for you though stinker, we are so happy you are here and you are healthy....you're smile has us hooked!!

Happy Birthday Cason Brett!!

11 mths and 30 days

Well Cason has made it alive for the first year although some days it has been close =) Tomorrow, at exactly 12:28 am, our little stinker will be ONE! This little rascal is such a busy and rambunctious kid!! Let's get to know him a little shall we??

- Walker. Runner is more like it now. He started walking at 9 mths (whoever told him he could do that is in TROUBLE). No he runs. Away from you. Into you. Up the stairs. Into the kitchen....wherever he can!! He can't ever get there fast enough...

- In true Sorensen fashion he is a LOUD boy! If you get all the Sorensen's Men in one room, it usually seems to turn into a competition of who can be heard...and now Cason can join in the ranks. He doesn't really say words...just yells and babbles to let you know he is there...all the time and in your face. And he roars at you.

-His facial expressions crack me up. I can usually tell what he is trying to say even though he doesn't talk with how is face looks. He will even elevate his voice at the end of what he calls sentences so I know he is trying to ask a question....way funny stuff.

-Cason is our music lover. Adalie has gotten into the habit of singing songs and dancing a lot more, but I think it is the effects that her little brother is having on her. Ever since he could make noise, he hummed along with me every time I would sing to him...now it has turned into yelling along with me in his own little Cason singing voice. Anytime the kid hears music he will dance around in a circle....usually to the point of making himself extremely dizzy and falling over or into something.
coming in for a smacker!!!

-Cason's new thing at the moment is kisses. Blowing kisses. Tackling with kisses. He will kiss you everywhere. Hopefully this trend does not continue into adulthood...This little flirt can melt your heart.

-He smiles all the stinkin' time....especially for any one who will talk to him. And he has a mouth FULL of teeth to show you...even his pre-molars are in. This kid can eat steak....seriously. He is a dumpster. Will eat anything and everything in sight!!

-Speaking of eat, he downs three meals a day, plus some. Chicken nuggets, yogurt, spaghetti, ramen noodles, and pizza are some of his favorites. He is a sippy cup master but still takes about 3 6 oz bottles a day at naps and bed. We will have to break that soon. Probably not going to be much fun.

-He is ALWAYS busy and starving for some attention. There is absolutely no lull moment when he wakes up. As soon as this kids eyes open he is awake and ready to move!! He climbs everything and rides his little car like Evil Canival.....standing up on his seat.

-Cason is a momma's boy...except when Daddy is home and then I am completely ignored. Like to the point were it hurts my pride a little.

-He is still waking up during the night....twice for a bottle. Ugh. We blame this on his constant sick and him having to get tubes a few weeks ago. This next week, we start the training all over again....gunna suuuuuuccccccckkkkkkk. All in all he is a fun little boy. All boy. Loves dirt, food, trouble, and attention...just like all men out there....There are probably a million things i am missing about him, but it is late and thats all I can remember for now.

Happy Almost Birthday little man Cason. We love you too pieces Little Brother....

Throughout the week

Valentines day turned out to be a great day. We picked up Brett early from school after his test and then the kids and I headed to an sweet Valentines party leaving Brett home to study. Adalie and Cason had so much fun and played and ran their little hearts out to their content. Adaalie and I playing the twizlers kissing game....Cason's head in the little corner wondering what the heck is going on and why he doesn't get any...candy or kisses. you can see my Adam's apple. yuck.

We were gone for about two hours and came home to a wonderful surprise. A SPOTLESS house courtesy of daddy who was supposed to be studying. And boy do I mean spotless!! We're talking floors mopped, furniture dusted and polished, scrubbed down stove kind of cleaning. It was awesome.....and we have even kept the habit of a dish free sink and wiped down counters since =). Dominos pizza for dinner...I am a sucker for dominos pizza. Then we all got to watch a movie together with lots of popcorn and treats. My kind of V Day celebrating!!Nothing really happened much Tuesday and Wednesday though. I did however find out something quite horrible...I have Celiacs disease. Blood tests came back positive. It seems my body is in the beginning stages of it all...That's right, that horrible, no good, very bad gluten free Diet and foods crap going on. No wheat. I have to go on a gluten free diet for at least two months to see if that helps with my tummy issues at all. I am not excited at all. Carbs are pretty much my life....

Night Time

Just because they're BAKED lay's doesn't mean I should eat the whole bag. You have to admit its Better than regular though right??? Kids are in bed and it is down time for mommy....I've got my Chips. My KitKat. My 48 hour hours mystery...I am an almost content woman at the moment, except my hubby is studying upstairs missing all the fun.

I found Cason's stash the other day....he is already hoarding. Probably a sign that we drink too much diet coke around here.

These two crack me up. One minute, Cason is the ultimate little pest- pulling hair, biting, hitting... The next, Adalie decides to be the nuisance and wrestle Cason to the ground. They will literally beat each other up. I am a little scared for their future sometimes. But at least in their tough moments, they take a few seconds to be cute and love each other.

Love Day Comes Early

On Monday I had my biopsy of the cysts' on my neck for the SECOND horrible time (came back benign woo hoo!)....and this time I didn't get any pain meds before to numb me up because they were in a hurry so ya...OUCH! I was so freaked out about the experience, Brett decided to give me my Valentines present early. I am STILL in shock at what he gave me.... my first real diamonds in 5 yrs since my wedding rings..
We are not supposed to do big gifts, especially since we are in med school. He told me I deserved to be spoiled every once in a while and decided that with tax returns coming soon he could spoil me a little. I cried when I opened them. Mainly because I was in shock and they are beautiful and my husband is the best man in the world of course, but also a little because of my gift to him.....I got him Pajamas. I am pretty sure he one upped me this Valentines Day.....

I love you Brett.

Super Bowl Sunday

Oh Super Bowl...you just aren't as good as you used to be. Ever since MTV lost the half time show job because of the "boob incident" with dear old Janet Jackson, it just hasn't been the same. Not that MTV did the best job in the world either with the show, but I do remember it being a LITTLE better than now. Sad that all I want to do is fast forward the half time ti get back to the game...And with Christina Aguilera messing up the national anthem and the commercials kind of blah, there wasn't much to watch. I did however enjoy the fact that Green Bay got to go to the Super Bowl without dumb ole' Brett Farve. I hope it was a kick in the pants that he wasn't there and no one wanted him there. You are waaaayyyy overrated Mr. Farve.
We watched the Super Bowl today....watching still even in the 4th. Although we are not a fan of either teams really, I hope the Packers win this one. Oh and a huge shot out for the game being held in Dallas Woot Woot!!

Gas Tank Woes

I was trying to think of something to post about and my life has been relatively boring as of late, but I did remember a funny story I could share with you...

When we first got our van, we stopped at the gas station next door to fill her up before we got home. Brett needed gas in his car too so I pulled up in the spot behind him. He came and put the hose in my tank also and I just sat in the car with Adalie. Well, I see Brett start driving off so i figured my tank was full also and just hadn't noticed him putting up my hose. Well he didn't. I started to drive off with the gas hose still in the van. Brett was freaking out and jumped out of his car to chase after me. HIS tank was full and he was just moving his car because another car was waiting.... Luckily there was no damage done to either the new van we had just gotten or the stores fuel tank. Just another moment in life where I looked like a complete idiot and another reason for Brett to hate my driving...

Icky Sicky

One of my least favorites sicknesses the kiddos can get is croop (sp?) or has I call it, the smoker's cough. That is exactly what it sounds like. Like my kids kicked back a pack of cigs all day and their lungs can't seem to handle it. Sometimes it sounds like a sick barking dog too. Poor kids are both running their courses through it. And it makes me so sad that there really isn't much you can do but just let it run its own course. Adalie is about done with her little spell, but Cason's just started yesterday and I can feel the worst coming tonight. We haven't had a lot of sleep around here. Cason has been up every hour almost for 3 days with yet another ear infection and now he has croop coming on. I know it will be a few more long nights. I lose my mind when I don't get any sleep. I am sure glad Brett didn't meet me on a day where I hadn't had a good 6 or 7 hours of sleep. He would've been running for the hills. We don't take anything each other might say between the hours or 1 am and 5 am too seriously because we both know that's when we are at our worst. It is, however, a good time to pull the, "Don't you remember I told you last night trick?" and pretend you forgot what they said/asked you to do the next day haha. Anywho, my lack of blogging is due to lack of sleep. No happy Campers around this house much this week. Although, today the sun is out and shining through my living room windows, over the hills of snow....that makes me feel a little happy =)

FirstFamilyVaca

Well, we usually just use our vacation time to go see Family in Texas and Colorado but since Brett doesn't work at all this year and we have pretty much all summer to do that, this Spring Break we are going on our first real family vacation! And where have we decided to spend some of our Tax returns?? =) DISNEYLAND!! WooHoo! We got a really nice vacation package and it makes it even better than Brett's mom and dad have decided to come too! And his sister and her daughter Macady! We will be there for five days during Brett's Spring Break. We are so excited it is almost comical. I am way excited for Adalie too ....it seems like the perfect little kid place if you ask me. We even get to go to California Adventures, which I hear is the more adult park?? Anywho, we are way excited!! Everyone is invited to come meet us a DisneyLand in March =)
