GoodBye Fish

I can't help but feel a little guilty writing this post and I am 100% positive that Adalie is going to hold this over our heads one day with disbelief that we made her do this...
About a year ago, we got Adalie some fish for her birthday. She named them Marny and Reka. Well, with the move coming up, we are soon faced with the challenge of moving those fish too. We will be on the road pretty much the whole month of July for weddings and family and won't even get to our new place in Iowa until July 29th, so feeding, care, and fishs's transportation becomes a problem. So the solution? Someone bought our fish tank but didn't want the fish. So Brett scooped them up into Mason jars and we asked Adalie if we should let the fishes go live with their friends at the pond. To our surprise, this actually turned out quite well. On the way to the pond to release the fish she kept talking about how they are going to get big and fat and they are going to have a "sleepover" and that we would just pick them up later. When we got there, we told her they were going to live there but we would come and visit them everyday and bring them some food so they could get big and fat. It was sooo cute to watch her release the fish with her daddy. She was introducing them to the other fish and the ducks in the pond and telling them to give each other hugs. It made us feel a little sad because I really didn't know she had grown that attached to them. She was great about the whole thing though and we even went to visit them today at the park. It was the first thing she wanted to do when she woke up this morning. And what did we bring them to eat? Her goldfish ate Goldfish....the crackers =)
