Days 2 and 3 of solitude

Saturday I basically did nothing really. Zip. Zilch. Nada!! I woke up at 11 a.m. Thats right, i slept in like a teenager...haven't done that in years. i was up most of the night however on and off due to my own paranoia of all the things that could go wrong in a hotel room by myself. Brett did however come to visit thank to some wonderful friends who offered to watch the kids for a few hours. And he came baring gifts!! Since i am not home for Mother's day, the kids gave me my presents yesterday. I was so spoiled...Brett is always a wonderful gift giver. And the flowers def brighten up my shabby little hotel room. Brett also brought me cooper for company. Brett couldn't be here for long and i couldn't even hug him so that kind of stinks. i did skype with him and the kiddos again Saturday night and it makes me feel better. I spent the rest of the night watching eureka and throwing up. No fun there. Stay away from the trash can - my vomit is radioactive.

This morning I saw Brett for about an hour before he bravely took the kids to church alone. Then after a shower that actually lasted longer than five minutes, I took my new bike (my mother's day surprise) for a mile and a half ride down the road to target. I told myself i would take my time since i really had nothing or no one to get back to in a rush, but i am so used to the last 5 yrs of shopping with children that i still got through everything i wanted to see or get in about 30 mins. And that was stretching it. Sheesh. Came home (hotel home). Ate my stuffed digorno microwave pizza and red velvet cookie I bought for myself. Took Copper for a walk. Came home and scrap-booked a few pages while watching a snapped marathon on oxygen. Now I am eating my sushi and catching up on blogging. My big plans for tonight -- talk to my kiddos and hubby, probably eat another cookie, take a hot bath, more eureka with Brett (its a netfilx show dirty thinkers ..tsk tsk), read my book, snuggle with cooper, and eventually force myself to sleep. Brett brought up a good point - I had the perfect mothers day - plenty of relaxing time and i didn't change a dirty diaper all day. HOWEVER - i do still miss my kiddos and my husband very, very much.

p.s. this sushi is super gross.

Quarantined Chronicles

So, it is Day 1 of my confinement adventure. This morning I said goodbye to my Adalie as I drove her to school and also to my boys when i dropped them off with a wonderful friend so i could head out to start the iodine radiation. Brett drove me down to the hospital where they took a few blood test and went over the fine lines of my NOT to do list. Can't love on my hubby for at least 3 days. No kiddos and pregnant women (which is basically everyone I know) for 7. Flush the toilet 3 times after each use. Wash your hand every 30 mins. Don't sweat on people or lick them either...Keep your fluids to yourself -you know-just your basic hygiene necessities upped a little for the next week. THEN after the warnings, the tech walks in with a 50lbs tungsten container, drops it onto the table with an extremely loud thug, and screws open the lid with his gloved fingers to hand me a tiny glass tube with a small white pill at the bottom. i have to swallow it fast and not touch it with anything but my mouth to contain the radiation to only me as much as possible. It felt and tasted like I swallowed a quarter. The lab technician takes this little instrument called "cutie pie" (no joke) to check my radiation level and it shows I am at a 23...anything under 38 and they can legally send me on my way. So they quickly send me out the door....very, very quickly. We still have almost 2 hours before I can check into my prison cell hotel room, so Brett takes me to get some last minute freezer foods for dinners for the next little while.

I am all checked in and it was so sad i could not even hug my hubby goodbye. I have been by myself for about 3 hours and i am amazed by the silence already. I have already finished a coke, some sushi, and a bag of spicy pork skins. i have been sucking on hard candies to keep the saliva moving around in my mouth so i do not kill my taste buds with my own spit. I am feeling nauseous and i feel like if i put my head down on a pillow i wouldn't wake up until Tuesday.

So what are my plans during quarantine? I brought scrap booking stuff, some books, lots of snacks, and i have lots of time to catch up on some netflix Oh and blogging-- lots and lots of blogging to do. I DO want to say thank you though to everyone for all the help and support...everyone has been so wonderful. Don't worry about me - i will be fine and back to normal in no time. The hardest part is being away from my hubby and kiddos for a bit - but it could be much, much worse and I am so grateful and blessed that its not. I will take it =)

Ya...

you know, its not like i haven't had all the time in the world to blog, I have just been so super lazy and not posting. We have done so many fun things with Rebecca here. My mood hasn't been much for blogging either. I am cranky, moody, exhausted, and have absolutely no patience whatsoever. These past few months have brought out the worst in my attitude with my hubby and kiddos. Makes me feel super guilty that i have NOT been a very likeable person for these last months. I feel like I am pregnant - times a million while also being on the worst pms episode of my entire life. I almost feel bi-polar with my super highs and lows and bad headaches. Bleh, terrible. Anywho, a thyroid update for you--

Looks like I will be starting the iodine treatment in the next few weeks. Right before our trip to Utah right at the end of the Month. i am sure i will be great company (sorry carrie). i just hope i am not sick the whole time and still recovering. it would be nice to actually enjoy the vacation and the last month that i get to see my hubby for a bit. NOT looking forward to it. I am ready to be my normal self again and be done with all of it. It has just been a really crazy feeling year so far. My amazing husband, although always extremely helpful and caring, has stepped it up and has endured my crazy rather well....I cannot tell you how lucky i am and how much i love that man.

My sister leaves tomorrow. So sad about it...it has been so fun having her here and she has taken care of my kiddos and my house. Although i am sure she is very tired of both of those things and looking forward to her own things and own time =)

My past week

So this last Tuesday i had the other half of my thyroid removed. Dr's took some scrapings of the lymphoids to check about the spreading and so far it looks like they got it all! so Good News there! Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were a little rough but I am feeling so much better faster than last time. I am so glad my sister is here though to help because it has been one heck of a week between Brett and I. Brett got hand, foot, and mouth....yes - that toddler disease. A child's infection. Can happen in adults, but rare. Well leave it to Brett to be the rare. He has been absolutely miserable. Hasn't been able to eat anything since Sunday. He had a bowl of cream of wheat today which was pushing it, but poor thing has been suffering. So, hurting because of all the mouth sores and grumpy because he can't eat and is pretty weak. Couldn't even really talk for a few days. But, it is getting better and most of the sores are cleared in his mouth except two really big ones right behind his front top teeth that still keep him from eating anything. Poor guy has lost like 10 lbs...ya poor Brett there since he is pretty much over half way to his weight goal were he wanted to be by summer. Anywho, he is loosing weight not in a good way, but still- boo on him for getting skinny and me-not so much. Today has been the best so far and hopefully i will be back to normal by tomorrow and can stop taking some pain meds. Someone has to be around here!! Looks like sister is sick now and Brett is still worn out and not doing to well, so that leaves me to be the somewhat well one! Oh, except i may have broken my foot. Weirdest thing ever....tried to gt out of bed this morning and my leg was literally like a limp noodle and a fell hard on my foot. It's funny that Brett is excited to see if it is broken because maybe he will get to do something about it. BUT just my luck though. I do not, however, think it is broken...just super bruised. Give me a few days and it will pass too.

Anywho, boring post but just wanted to give the update. My hormones are super crazy at the moment, i am confused and forgetful about every little thing, the pain meds make me sad and grumpy, I am non-stop exhausted--so I am no fun to be around while the thyroid medicine works its "magic". I will find out Monday if i need to do the radiation iodine treatment. Hopefully that's a NO and we will be all good! I am so thankful for the prayers and all the help. The Lord definitely heard my prayers about feeling alone and unloved with no friends (i know, very silly)-- He gave me thyroid cancer and let me know I have all kinds of friends out there who love me lots and lots. Thanks again and again everyone.

European Carry All

Ever seen that Seinfeld? Well this is Cason's European Carry all bag aka man purse. Aunt Becca sent us a package in the mail a while ago and among the contents inside were two purses. Cason of course thought one was his and has been carrying it around all the time since. One day I decided to take a look to see what he was carrying around all the time....kids got his priorities.
We have a stethoscope, an otoscope, an iphone, brush, baseballs for a quick game anytime, healthy cob of corn for a snack, and of course his gun. Because a girl-errr a boy always needs to be packing is his purse European carry all. So we have a baseball playing, gun slinging Dr in our future folks!
Oh and Brody can reach the table...just the ends so we need to be a little more careful. He has already spilled lots of glasses of water, dropped the camera. almost broke a plate, and got into Adalie's homework. AND if there is a table clothe on the table he knows how to pull it until he can reach what he wants when we try and put it out of his reach. Like the picture above...i thought the Cheetos bag was far enough away from the edge. Well, he figured it out and got them. Little Stinker.
Oh and this is Cason and Cooper. Pretty much best friends. This dog is SO good with the kids, especially with all the crap they put him through. Sometimes I feel quite sorry for the him.

Easter 2013!!

We dyed eggs....even Brody got to try it out, which was of course a mess.

We wrote the kids names on some of the eggs before they put them in the colors without them knowing. They were amazed that their names magically appeared on their Easter Eggs....might keep this magic for next year too!
We took the kids that morning to a city Easter Eggs hunt. They had it split into age groups so Cason and Adlalie were in separate group. Good thing though, because those 5-7 yr olds were RUTHLESS. i wish I had the camera with me to get that action shot of all those big kids taking off.

We also took the kids to the zoo after the hunt for their Easter Eggstravaganza. The zoo is a little sad right now since it is going under a facelift, but it was fun to get out and about still. The weather was terrible, cold and wet, but the kids did not seem to mind. The Easter Bunny was there. Adalie later asked me why he wasn't in a cage like all of the other zoo animals.

Well, despite my kids' (and mine) bad attitudes lately, the Easter Bunny still came.

Brody had fun unpacking everyones' baskets which caused some fights in the early a.m.

Adalie got a Barbie Cruise ship ( we got it on sale after Christmas and just hid it in our closet to give to her for Easter.)
Cason got himself a new bike. It's green. His favorite Color =) And he very excited to learn how to ride it! He practiced all morning in the house and there are little black tire marks all over my floor to prove it. One of the Training wheels came off and he brought it to dad and said "The Easter bunny didn't screw it in!" Oh that darn Easter bunny...sheesh. You would have never known he waited until 10 the night before to put that thing together!

It was a fun Easter. I am so thankful for a living Savior. We had a big dinner with friends, got lots of fun treats, and i still feel like i might pop from all the crud i ate. Brett and i are starting up some insanity workouts again tonight before I go in for surgery again next week. i just might barf.

Happy Easter Everyone!
