Our neighbors have drums.
In our Contract it says we agree not to "make or permit noises inside or outside the unit that will disturb the rights or comforts of any resident. Acts and noises include, but are not limited to, keeping the volume of and stereo equipment, television, or musical instrument at a level that will disturb any resident." Drums fall into that category yes?? Also, I am a disturbed resident. The thing is, I really don't mind them playing them, even though it is horribly loud and obnoxious, I am willing to compromise and not be mean. I just wish they could pick a different time and maybe only do it an hour instead of 2 1/2??? We have gone over there four times and knocked on the door and rang the door bell just to talk to them nicely about it. They have ignored us and won't even answer the door when we go over. The will stop playing there drums until we get off of their porch and start again....louder and longer. Last night they started playing at 7:30....which is when Cason usually goes to bed. It was really nice of them when they didn't answer the door again.
I was going to be a nice neighbor and try and solve this by just talking to them and asking nicely, but now the 3 yr old in me is coming out and wants to show them whats what. Maybe hit them on the head with their own drum stick??

do they share the same landlord? I'd say report it. Then the landlord can deal with it. It sounds like it's really a genuine problem for you, and you don't want to move again, right?!
definitely file a complaint! if they're affecting your children's schedule, you have every right to tell on them. ;) you tried playing nice, but now it's time to do something. good luck!
Lydia,
You have to say something. You were right to try and talk to them first. Since they have ignored your kind requests it's time to take it to the landlord. If they won't do anything call the cops. They're disturbing the peace.
have you tried knocking on their door when they're not playing super loud music? maybe they'd be more likely to open the door? i'd say, leave a nice note with a friendly (i'm not being sarcastic) threat.
I tried the knocking when they weren't playing....twice and no one still answered but I could hear the kids inside. I thought about leaving a plate of brownies with a note, but we went ahead and called the super LoL. We'll see I guess!!
