Things I've noticed

I don't know if it is this way with you too, but it takes my family about 10, maybe 15 minutes tops to finish a meal that took at least an hour to cook. Take tonight for instance....I started the spaghetti sauce at 3:3o. Had to cook the meat and then let it simmer for at least an hour. Got the noodles in at 4:45. Started the Parmesan cheese toast at 5:05. Set the table and had the drinks out by 5:10. Food and family at the table by 5:15. Prayer (2 seconds by Adalie) and then feast!! Done eating by 5:28...seriously. I have told my husband on many occasions that he eats too fast. His excuse? Growing up in a house full of boys you had to be if you wanted to eat anything, much less get seconds of whatever was left. I do however, admire my father in law for his ability to enjoy a good meal. He is always the last one to get his food and always the last one to leave the table. When we go out to eat, everyone is usually half way out the door while he is still finishing up his meal. Seriously what's the hurry?? Food should be enjoyed and savored. You eat it too fast, you miss the taste that is intended.

I love it when my sheets match my pillow cases. Kind of sounds funny, but usually the 4 or five pillows that are on our bed (Brett and I both sleep with 2 pillows, me sometimes 3) have different pillow cases. Today I got to buy sheets. I absolutely LOVE new sheets. Sateen sheets....its heaven for your skin, really. I bought 4 pillow cases. My pillows are just as soft and pretty as my sheets. My bed looks like it came out of a home and gardens magazine at the moment and I adore it.

Yesterday was of the two days a year where we feel rich for a few moments. It was the day our school loans came in. Too bad 28,000$ of that had to go to tuition, but even the $10,000 that was left in our account makes us feel pretty well off =) Interesting to think that one day that will be our income for a month....unfathomable!!! Although that will also be used to pay the government back the $200,000 plus interest we will owe them after 6 yrs when all is said and done. Oh and just so you know, there is no longer $10,000 in our bank so don't rob us. Most of that has already been spent. haha

We have a rule at our house that no one can leave the table until mom is done! Otherwise I get everyone served and then by the time I sit down they are done and ready to move on. I've heard you should defend family meal time so I made the rule! They have to sit and talk with me whether they like it or not! :)

I know what you mean with the loan thing. It is weird really having to budget now month to month. I am used to having a big lump sum and just making it last, I like that feeling better! Oh well, like you said just a few more years and the big bucks will start! p.s. spaghetti sounds heavenly right now. Mitch hasn't been home for dinner the last two weeks so the girls and I have been veggin out on cold cereal, grilled cheese, nuggets, sounds healthy huh?!

You are wise for your years . . . and funny too! Perfect thought for me today. I spent at least five hours over the past two days just to make stuffed French Toast for 8 missionaries, my guys and my mother-in-law . . . then the clean up. Gone in matter of minutes! Crazy how food works!

Your spaghetti sounds delicious! I'm totally feeling for you. AND your pregnant . . . you're amazing.

Same story at my house with the food. I think Tyler holds the Sorensen record for eating so fast. He uses the same excuse. I will still be getting out my fork and taking my first bite and I look up and his food is literally GONE. I dont know how he does it
