Dr Visits

Just another reason why i hate the Dr office.

So yesterday i had a Dr. Apt. I went to have my birth control stuff done. I got the new thingy...the rod they put in your arm....ouch. Last for 3 yrs. We figure we will be ready in 3 yrs...we'll see I guess! Anywho, that's not really what I wanted to you to know about the appointment but it serves as an intro to the whole experience.

At my six week apt (on the 5th) I was told to come in again for the birth control when my next menstrual cycle began. I called a few days ago and they got me in yesterday. I was under the impression it would be quick because I had to get home to take Adalie and Cason to the dentist at 3, so when I walked out the door without my phone i figure no big deal. Dr's office is right down the road and I should be back in half an hour no problem. Mistake! I got to the Dr at 1:15, left a sample with the nurses and they got me back into the room at about 1:25. The Dr. came in at 1:35 to tell me that the urine test I had to take to make sure I wasn't pregnant, came back "inconclusive". COMMENCE MAJOR PANIC ATTACK!! They were going to send me downstairs to the lab to take a blood test and check that way. 1:45, they are drawing blood and I am sent back upstairs to wait in the little room with my wild thoughts. That would be 3 kids under 3. What if I had twins? How possible is it to have octuplets?? Who would have to come live with me? What am I going to do with so many babies and a husband in medical school?? Am I horrible for not being even a little bit excited about this maybe?? I was still on my cycle and thought there was no way possible I could be so why am I freaking out?? But the Dr had to be sure. I sat in the room for 20 more mins until the dr came in yet again to tell me the results still weren't back yet but they were going to go ahead and give me a local anesthetic to get me ready for the incision in my arm. The shot takes about 15 mins to work so she left again only to come back 20 more mins later with the negative pregnancy results (sigh of relief) and more local to give because she had been gone too long and it might have worn off. I got another shot but she didn't wait the whole 15 mins to let it work again, only about five, stuck a huge knife/needle in my arm and gave me the implanon. That part took about two mins and hurt like heck.

I got to the Dr for a 1:15 apt. Left at 3:10. The nurses told me it would only take about 15 mins. Kids missed their dentist apt. My arm is killing me. I got the award for most difficult patient of the day, I am sure.
