I Love To See the Temple

On Thursday, Brett took us to Kansas City to the Temple open house. It's not every day we are close enough to go to a temple open house and we thought it was a great thing for the kids to be able to experience.

The adventure began and 2 hours in, Cason vomited in the car. We made it through the temple without Cason or Adalie ruining anything. I was worried the whole time that maybe Cason had snuck in a crayon and I could just see the damage in my head he could do to those beautiful walls. He was so lethargic and had such a high fever by the time we got out though, and I am sure that helped his almost "reverent" mood.  Adalie's favorite parts were the mirrors of course. In the ceiling room (were a bride and groom are married) there are two huge mirrors facing each other which makes your reflections go on forever. A prefect way to symbolize an eternal marriage with your spouse and your posterity that will go on forever and ever. After our tour, we went out to eat at the good ole' OG (olive garden) were we couldn't get Cason to eat a single bite of anything. We were going to try and tough it through to the visitors center and liberty jail and such, but Cason's fever got worse and all he wanted to do was sleep. Adalie scraped up her legs pretty bad do to a fall in the parking lot. We had to stop and get some medicine for the kids and we were all exhausted and just headed home. A 3 hour drive there for a 2 hour outing and then 3 hours to get home.

It was a wonderful trip though despite not sounding as such. Any excuse to escape the world for a moment with my amazing family is worth anything. Vomit, fever, bloody knees, and all.Even if we didn't get a good picture out of it either...

we were there. The whole family =)

i stole this

Carrie I hope you don't mind that I took this from your blog to share. Best. Video. Ever. It was a challenge on Ellen for pregnant women to dance behind unexpected strangers. And Carrie....it was absolutely the best way to start my day- for sure.

Roller Derby

It is a sport that is alive and well here in Iowa! I got to see it first hand at a little girls night.. Everything you can imagine about the players and crowd that attends is completely true. I know what you're picturing right now in your mind and you got it. Spot on.
It was the groupon deal a few weeks back her in Des Moines and a few of us got tickets for last saturday night. We actually know one of the players on one of the teams. She is the wife of an Elder in the stake presidency. No Joke. After Brett convinced me to go (I was freaking out about the terrible weather and was sure it would mean doom to leave the house), You know it was a party. I even bought a cow bell. 8 Mormon mommas cheering on the derby girls in all of their glory. Oh, and its gotta be a party when THIS guy is there. Or the announcer looks like this. I tried to get more pictures of just the amazing crowd that attended but I think I looked to conspicuous and had to stop.

I can't explain the rules at all to you. I thought I was getting the hang of it maybe during the first game, which seemed to more low key players....like a junior varsity. But, when the main team (like the IA professional all American league) got up there to play I was shocked! Even the crowd got...errr, rougher. Drunks and potty mouths everywhere. I heard more profanity in half n hour than I had my entire life. Somethings I didn't even know what they meant. I figured the best way to get them to stop was by talking to them (they were right next to me) and asking them to explain the game to me. Haha. Kind of worked actually.

Anywho, it was an awesome night with great company. We battled tornado like winds and flash flooding just to be there. At one point the lights went out in the arena and I am pretty sure we were all scared for our lives. I was having scary thoughts of dark corners. Seriously though, one of the best girls nights ever.

Oh, and I will be trying out for the 2013 Roller derby season. =)

Dr Visits

Just another reason why i hate the Dr office.

So yesterday i had a Dr. Apt. I went to have my birth control stuff done. I got the new thingy...the rod they put in your arm....ouch. Last for 3 yrs. We figure we will be ready in 3 yrs...we'll see I guess! Anywho, that's not really what I wanted to you to know about the appointment but it serves as an intro to the whole experience.

At my six week apt (on the 5th) I was told to come in again for the birth control when my next menstrual cycle began. I called a few days ago and they got me in yesterday. I was under the impression it would be quick because I had to get home to take Adalie and Cason to the dentist at 3, so when I walked out the door without my phone i figure no big deal. Dr's office is right down the road and I should be back in half an hour no problem. Mistake! I got to the Dr at 1:15, left a sample with the nurses and they got me back into the room at about 1:25. The Dr. came in at 1:35 to tell me that the urine test I had to take to make sure I wasn't pregnant, came back "inconclusive". COMMENCE MAJOR PANIC ATTACK!! They were going to send me downstairs to the lab to take a blood test and check that way. 1:45, they are drawing blood and I am sent back upstairs to wait in the little room with my wild thoughts. That would be 3 kids under 3. What if I had twins? How possible is it to have octuplets?? Who would have to come live with me? What am I going to do with so many babies and a husband in medical school?? Am I horrible for not being even a little bit excited about this maybe?? I was still on my cycle and thought there was no way possible I could be so why am I freaking out?? But the Dr had to be sure. I sat in the room for 20 more mins until the dr came in yet again to tell me the results still weren't back yet but they were going to go ahead and give me a local anesthetic to get me ready for the incision in my arm. The shot takes about 15 mins to work so she left again only to come back 20 more mins later with the negative pregnancy results (sigh of relief) and more local to give because she had been gone too long and it might have worn off. I got another shot but she didn't wait the whole 15 mins to let it work again, only about five, stuck a huge knife/needle in my arm and gave me the implanon. That part took about two mins and hurt like heck.

I got to the Dr for a 1:15 apt. Left at 3:10. The nurses told me it would only take about 15 mins. Kids missed their dentist apt. My arm is killing me. I got the award for most difficult patient of the day, I am sure.

Easter Fun

SO! Easter Happened!

We had a great branch bbq at our wonderful stake pres house last Saturday. I was pretty sure I was going to have a heart attack at any moment as his property has a huge pond on it and a very high metal slide that is too much of a temptation for any toddler to pass up. There was also a paddle boat which Brett was brave enough to take Adalie and Cason on much to my dislike.....they did have life jackets on but I was ready, skirt in all to jump in at any moment. Which, by the way I don't know what I was thinking wearing a skirt on a very windy day to a branch party...not a good thing. ANYWHO, they got to go on an Easter egg hunt and most of the eggs Cason found were empty (I think the older kids would just empty the candy in their baskets and leave the egg). That's ok though, I would've just eaten all their candy anyway. Then we came home and dyed some Easter eggs. We were sure to document the occasion so that my kids can't say we never did anything for the holidays when they get older. It got messy and the kids had color stained fingernails then ext day for church, but it was fun. the kiddos got their Easter baskets ready and went to bed Easter-eve on bribes that the Easter bunny would be there to deliver treats. Adalie was convinced she HAD to sleep with her bunny ears or he wouldn't come.

Oh forgot to mention...Brett found a dead bird in the tree house at Pres Pence's house haha. I of course made him wait to throw it away so I could get a picture =) Who knows how many kids had been touching it or playing with it before he found it. Eww.

Easter Sunday the kiddos woke up to some goodies! Adalie got a bike and is starting to master it slowly. She has absolutely no coordination and is very timid about new things so its been fun to see her trying it out. Cason got a T Ball set and will soon be a pro I am sure! Brody got...well nothing really. Third time around, I realized they really don't care about the holidays for the first time. I sang in church and we also had friends over for an Easter dinner. We bought a new table from our good friends and it gets really big. It's a real table, solid wood and all with matching chairs even. It really makes us feel like an adult. That and the butter dish we bought the other day too.

Oh, and on our way to church Adalie saw the bike box in our trash and said "I think the Easter bunny must have bought my bike at the store because he left the box in our trash and came through our garage" haha Kids always make holidays fun I think.

Here are a few more Easter Fun pictures to throw in for ya...Time to Wake Up!!
Loves to be outside!!
He wanted to drive the tractor for the kiddy ride =)

But, I do want to end with how grateful I am for the Savior and his sacrifice. I know that He died for us but I also know that He lives. He is real. He is the Son of a loving Father in Heaven. He is who I want to be and I know that the gift of the atonement can help me get there. I love the gospel that I know and I am proud to be a .
