The Dentist

Who hasn't had a wonderful experience there huh? When I moved out to UT in Jan 2006, I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled out. My wonderful roommates, Alicia and Ashley, took me to the dentist since I was going to be under sedation and wouldn't be able to drive. Or think clearly for that matter. I went in, sat in the chair and a nice nurse lady set me all up. Gave me the paper bib, screwed open my mouth, turned on the bright lights and said "The Dr will be in just a minute" Somewhere in between, someone else came in with a huge needle to give me a shot. All I hear is "Count backwards from 10" "I"m sorry wha....???" I was out. For a split second I remember opening my eyes and seeing a white mask and arms coming out of my mouth and then dozed again. I woke up and noticed a nurse standing in the corner of the room. "Ummm, excuse me? When is the Dr going to come in? I think I have been waiting for a while" "Oh honey he has already come and has finished the job!" It is about this time I notice the blood on the bib and touch my face to feel my chipmunk like cheeks and cotton balls inside. "Don't touch honey! Now here is a wheel chair for you since you're still a little out of it" Here is one of the not thinking clearly parts as I try to stand up on my own. "Oh no I am fine" And I literally fall out of the dentist chair. After the nurse helped me up and into the wheel chair, I felt so...happy. Even Happy enough to start singing oneof my absolute favorite songs at the top of my lungs....Honky Tonk ba-Donky Donk. (for anyone of you who may not know that song, it is about a girl and her large bottom) I get wheeled into the waiting room where I see my wonderful friends. I just loved them soooooo much at the moment and I think I told them about a hundred times that day just how much. I was overly joyed and was telling everyone! Yet, never skipping a beat with my song of choice. The nurse told us that we would need some more gauze, so I am not sure if I am the one who decided this or not, but the three of us decided to stop on the way home and get more gauze and my pain meds. Probably another not thinking clearly moment. See, you bleed a lot from your mouth. Especially a mouth with four holes in it. I remember standing in the prescription line feeling extremely nauseous. I felt like I was going to pass out. I started to spit out the gauze in my mouth and my wonderful friend Ashley was catching the bloody things in her hand. Who loves me enough to catch my bloody vomit? Ashely did! I thought the best solution was to start swallowing the blood. No. Going to pass out....going to pass out. And from then on the rest was pretty sketchy. Somehow I made it back in the car with new gauze and medicine. My roommates made a place for me on the couch since we were all pretty sure I wouldn't make it up the stairs. And there I laid, with my head propped up, high as a kite watching cartoons. I think I had a babysitter all day, though I am not sure because I was asleep for most of it. One of the shifts even went to my cousin Johnny and who did he bring? Though I didn't know it at the time, my future husband Brett. I think this was my 3rd time to have seen him, and here they came over to watch Monster's Inc with me. I was alseep the whole time, drooling over everything and I don't even remember them leaving. Somehow Brett still decided to date me. Moral of the story: I don't due well with pain meds and should not be held accountable for anything that might happen while I am on them.

Wow that's a long story. Cudos to you if you made it this far! Well, here is a funny little video that I saw the other day! You might have seen it but, it is some funny stuff. David Goes to the Dentist
